King crabs may be more expensive, but they have more meat, and it's sweeter and juicier. Snow crab can be used in a pinch.
Either way, save the shells and any (ha!) leftover meat for a stock to make soup. Don't throw those shells away!

King crab are much larger than snow crab and the two look completely different. Snow crab can come from the Atlantic or Pacific, but most of the ones that are sold come from Canada. There are actually two different types of king crab.

size, i think.
king crabs are the HUGE crabs (about the size of a 50 cent piece in diameter) and the snow crabs are usually those little ones that barely have any meat inside.
