in this big ole evil world would it be to much to ask if every one could find at least one person a week and say a few kind words and maybe do one kind deed a month? even the most evil of persons tend to soften up with just a simple kind word. what are your views. and what bible verses can you think of to support this?

The bible is not my sacred text. I log over 20 hours a week in volunteer work with the homeless and people living with A.I.D.S.

Yes, this is a wondeful idea, indeed!!
And the Bible verse that I will use to support this is the Gospel according to St. Matthew, chapter 5 verses 2-12.
They are the 8 Beatitudes.

The bible has a lot to say about this.It starts with compassion for others.Having good character helps you help others around you. The Bible talks about helping one other......there are so many bible verses to support this I don't know where to start. One thing I know is it helps to be a good listener............sometimes people just want to talk and for you to listen.......just listen! I try to help where I can and a good way is to say hello as you walk by someone and give them a smile.Smiles are good to give away in this ole world of ours, but what helps most of is to pray for one other.I hope this help you some. You have a good question........take to God in prayer and study and read your bible everyday. Amen!

Don't know of any Bible verses to support it, but I think it's a good idea. Nothing wrong with spreading a little bit of positivity around - good manners beget good manners.

Not too much to ask but why do you need a bible verse to support this.
I am an atheist (as you can tell from my t-shirt) but I also have volunteered in soup kitchens and with habitat for humanity.

from your own website:
confucius said,
"do not be concerned about others not appreciating you.
be concerned about you not appreciating others."
high priestess,
why can't YOU appreciate
whatever little kindnesses
we can muster each day,
and stop concerning yourself
with hasseling us
about doing more?
after all,
as you look at us
and judge us
you have no knowledge
of what things
we have
said and done
out of your sight
--you aren't all seeing
are you?
thanks
for your
appreciation
of us

i always think doing little things for people like holding the door open or helping pick things up when they've dropped them in the street getting up for an old or pregant person on the bus makes life a little nicer for everyone.
and always making a little convo with the sales assistant

I totally agree with you. With all the conflicts and wars going on every day, it wouldn't hurt to do a good deed even if it's a friendly "how are you today?"

I'm an Atheist and consider myself to be a good person. I don't need the bible to dictate to me to help a fellow human being. If presented an opportunity to help somebody in need, I always try to help.

You don't need religion in order to do kind deeds. I'm atheist and I try to do as much good as possible solely because I can and not because it is required of me.
