so, before the bible was written. basically no one was a christian etc. so they automatically went to hell? what about the Native Americans who did not have access to the bible until christopher columbus set sail and discovered america. yes they all went to hell huh because they worshiped their own gods? yet there was no way they had access to the bible and "god's teachings".

Jesus NEVER wrote any of His teachings down nor asked the Apostles to write anything down.

Jesus DID say do as I do. Love God, Love your neighbor.
Jesus was very hands-on and told His true followers to do the same. Faith in Action = Love.

Your question would be a reasonable one if salvation was actually "Through the Bible." However, it is not. It is, instead, found through Jesus Christ alone.

WRONG ANSWER!!! Why does every christian say that?! When the man they claim to follow said the following about salvation in the bible:

john 4: 9

The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?"

22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, FOR SALVATION IS FROM THE JEWS.

there....and according to YOUR bible Jesus didnt think much of non Jews. what was it he said? "Dont cast your pearls before swine."

Go ye not into the settlements of the gentile..but to the lost children of Israel, he instructed his close disciples.

Salvation is not through the Bible. Salvation is obtained through grace and faith in Jesus Christ, and in true repentance for sins.

Those who, through no fault of their own, cooperated with God's grace, even though they never knew him, were very likely given the opportunity to faithfully accept Jesus Christ, and accompany him to heaven, when that time came.

We don't have all the details of how this worked, but we have good reason to believe it is true.

Jesus said, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father" John 14:9

"No one comes before the Father except through Me" John 14:6-9

This is where your answer further lies with regards to your inquiry as to where the Pre-Bible believers went when they died.

salvation is through christ. he is eternal. he has existed since creation.

yes. people go to hell because they worship "their own" gods, instead of the one true god.

the bible wasn't written when jesus died on the cross, but the thief next to him was promised heaven. a written bible is not necessary for salvation. like the native americans, there are many religious traditions passed down orally in cultures different from ours.

Before Jesus, there was paradise- no one went to heaven. If you served God you went there, if you didn't serve God you didn't go there. Salvation is thru Jesus, the Bible is God's word to clarify things. After Jesus died, everyone in paradise went to Heaven, and from then on you had to accept Jesus in order to be saved. As for the Native Americans, I believed in the end God offered them a choice: if they accepted him they went to be with Him, if they accept him, then they went to hell. For those who have not heard the gospel, it does not necessarily mean they are going to hell...the choice is offered to everyone, even if it means they may choose whether or not to accept it after they die.

that's the one big thing that's always bothered me about Christianity. What happened to those that didn't know of Christ yet? Or that worshipped different gods? That's why I couldn't come to terms with Christianity in my own life.

salvation comes from Jesus alone, the bible is the Word another name for Jesus. read John 1:1. before Jesus lived people lived under the law and their sins were covered by the blood of goats and lambs. after Jesus died His blood was shed once and for all mankind's sins and taken into the Holy of Holies not made with hands. in other words there is a temple in heaven where the Blood of Jesus was poured out for our sins. those who died before Christ looked forward to His payment for their sins that were temporally covered by animal blood.

If the answer is 'yes' they did go to hell, then it is a cruel and hateful religion and if the answer is 'no', then christians should burn all the bibles so that no one reads or hears about it so that no-one will go to this place called hell.
