I have found myself snacking between meals on the weekend when I am home. How can I stop? What could I substitue for food? Overall any tips on what I could do.

Keep a good supply of water on hand -in frig or whereever you like and drink when you think of snacking. Snacking between meals is not a terrible thing. Try snacks such as orange segments, pieces of apple , slices of iceberg lettuce or cucumber, a dill pickle...you may need the nutrients and the water and the 'munch'. It is what you eat and drink and how much that counts much more then when.

Snacking is self pampering. Nothing wrong with that. It's happy food. Just be careful, if you have a slow metabolism, you'll gain weight quickly. If your metabolism is fast, you'll only gain a little weight until you over do it. Also to help to stop snacking you need some excitement in life to take your mind off of food and television. Join a gym, jog, or take a walk in the neighborhood. This will cure any excessive snacking problems.

I think that if you eat healthy foods like fruit, veggies, and not-so-bad things like a small amount of pretzels or non-buttered popcorn you should feel so guilty. One of the most important things is the amount you are eating. I have changed my eating habits a lot over the past 6 months, and have lost 4% of my previous weight. I eat more often, usually 4 to 5 times a day, but smaller portions than I used to without giving up on any of the things I love like carbs (!) and the occasional muffin/piece of cake/ice cream.

If you are doing things in moderation, and are not just eating because you are bored, sad, etc. but truly hungry then having a snack that is not high calorie/fat/etc. then you shouldn't feel so guilty.

That's my 2 cents.

I think a little snack between meals is good for you. It actually keeps your metabolism up if you eat more freqently. It's more important WHAT you are snacking on. Just choose fruits or veggies or other light options.

Snacking is totally OK! Just watch what you eat and portion sizes. I graze all day in little bitty amounts. I've lost a lot of weight that way!

I agree it is ok just watch what you are putting in you mouth! drink lots, of water .A slice of lemon in it is good for a change.
Have you ever tried frozen grapes? just wash any kind of seedless ones and place in a freezer bag. They do not freeze solid but just get kinda slushy, nice for a snack and are great on a hot day!

That's not necessarily a bad thing.
You could get some fruit or vegetables to eat instead. Just find ones that you really like alot and eat those. But ocassionally..a doughnut or something is good too =)

Maybe if you're hungry you should just substitute your snacks for ones like carrots or other raw vegetables or fruit. I've always been one to eat if you're hungry. If weights a problem just change what you eat. Food is great. Have at your snacks....
Just make them healthy ones.
Good luck ! ! ! !
