I am a male but have braids. My hair is about 1'4". So I think I have a right to answer:) You should wash with shampoos that don't have waxes in them and use conditioner. I used to use pantene pro v till I learned about the wax build up that occurs. First I bought clarifying shampoo to get out the wax and now I use aussie. Just have a good conditioner for your hair. I can personally care less for split ends, but females are different. But use good conditioner so you won't get breakage and split ends. Take care love!

I really think that people are really funny telling you to use a 2 in 1 shampoo plus conditioner. That is false. Your shampoo is not doing its job f it is mixed with conditioner. Have you ever been to a salon and seen or bought a 2 in 1 ? No you havent. Anyway, you need to get a seperate shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo teice as needed, meaning if you perspired that day, or your hair is over oily, or has a lot of product on it. The correct way to shampoo is simply this: Put a quarter size in the palm of your hand starting with the ends of your hair and working up to the scalp. Using only your fingertips, massage your scalp trying not to ball your hair up into a mess. Use your fingers to gently slide your hair through them. If you pull to much this could cause breakage. Use a seperate conditioner applying to ends and mid-shaft only. You may even need a spray, leave in conditioner after the initial conditioner. Make sure you get regular trims so that you can get rid of split ends

Spend a little more money and buy decent shampoos and conditioners. Use ones that dont contain silicone or have water soluable silicones. If you use a silicone based shampoo (L'Oreal, Pantene etc) they just coat your hair so you get silicone build up that will eventually dull your hair, hence why you feel like you need to change your shampoo every now and then. Good brands are Bumble and Bumble, Frederic Fekkai and Phyto. You pay more buts its worth it. You should only need to shampoo your hair once unless its really dirty (however if you use Phyto shampoos then you need to do 2 shampoos as its has no sodium laurell sulfate (a foaming agent) but hey, you can read the box!

When you shampoo your hair, don't use your fingernails or a brush to work the shampoo in. Only use a wide mouth comb.

Wet hair is very fragile.

i believe the right way to shampoo is work it into the strand and comb with your fingers gently. then use the lather to massage your scalp. don't put the shampoo directly on your scalp. then rinse. it's not good to wound hair on your head and scrunch it all up like most people do.

change brand of shampoo everytime you run out. use a clarifing shampoo once a week. make sure you get it trimmed at least once a month. oh - and dont forget to condition it.
they say washing your hair everyday is bad for it but if you are like me it has to be washed everyday cause it looks soooo oily.

WELL, I USE GARNIER FRUCTICS. IT IS A PRETTY GOOD SHAMPOO. I THINK YOU SHOULD USE SHAMPOOS WITH CONDITIONERS BECAUSE, IT HELPS YOU KEEP YOU HAIR SOFT FOR MY OPINION. I WOULD ONLY USE A QUART SIZE SHAMPOO WHEN I WASH MY HAIR AND, FOR CONDITIONER 1 OR 2 TIMES MORE THAN, SHAMPOO.
