Has anyone experienced this? What stops this behavior. He will even try to attack fingers to do his business.

you are not crazy. my lovebird does the same thing. he has a wire platform in his cage and hangs his little tushy over the edge and rocks back and forth for long periods. you can tell he is finished because he throws his wings out to the side, falls over on his beak and goes to sleep. he seems very happy other wise so i let him do his thing. it is just embarrassing when people ask what he is doing. my 70 year old Mother thinks his dancing is cute. i'm not even going to try to explain!!

LOL. Sorry, I know you said no spam. Can you contact your local pet store and see if there is something they can advise you on. Maybe some kind of toy, another bird, certain foods. I don't know, but I can picture this. I have a cockatiel and when she was in heat would squack at anything and everything in hopes it was going to be a great meeting. She is 14 now and has gone through menopause and doesn't care about it anymore.

Get a mate for the bird - lovebirds need to be in pairs. Hookbills do this - my ex-inlaw's Quaker parrot has a special toy that he loves for that.

take away the mirrors in the cage... and cover all the mirrors in the house - nope that's impossible. it's just something they do when they feel amorous. my cockatiel had their gray feather dust on everything shiny.
