When the technology advances enough to make it cheaper. The other thing that will make the cost go down is when space becomes commonplace - less demand, prices drop. Basic economics.

For more details look at the history and evolution of the flight industry...it'll work just like that.

Sorry you live in the year 2006, kid. I wish I could see space too.

It is actually pretty cheap just the other day my teacher and I were talking about this. It is cheap because the gas alone is expensive and for them to put the gas on the shuttle and they teach you quite a bit about the shuttle and to cover legal fees and release forms a liabiality. And all of that stuff. If you think about all of the steps that they have to go through it is cheap and would be more expensive if it was launching in the U.S. I hope this is somewhat of a hel to you.

All the training would be expensive. You can't just jet off into space (pun not intended) without undergoing a lot of training and expect to come home without serious health problems or even alive. You have to be in good shape to go.

As the price drops and companies (not governments) start offering trips in their own vehicles. It will still be expensive considering the cost of the vehicle, fuel, training and liability plus the high demand.
