roller as roman lets in light in joins unless it's full width of window, if that's case then doesn't matter.

not entirely sure about what you mean... Roller blinds are those metal things that go on the outside of the windows.. that provide for SECURITY... provide for reducing the sun's rays and winter cold because each of those horizontal pieces are insulated... If that is what you are referring to.. I had the same decision to make and I chose the SECURITY aspects and am having (next week) roller blinds put on the windows of my house... I really think that security will become more and more of a problem in the future.

Roman blinds were more effective than roller blinds when the blinds are blackout when we put them to the test in the heat of Lanzarote

It would depend on what kind of roman shades you're looking at. Hobbled romans are going to be connected and will not let light in between the folds. Either would be good, as long as you get them to fit the window, using an inside mount. Outside mounts are going to let light in around the edges.
