My wife wanted to ask this so I'll do it on here... at an intersection, do you use your turn signal/"blinker" when turning or just turn???

You guys are paranoid, I'm not a cop and you guys ain't perfect "not using your signals is against the law"??? Give me a break... when I was in Iraq for the 1-year deployment I never used signals, nobody did... I still don't here in Utah... the way I see it, if you're in a TURN lane with a stoplight that shows ARROWS instead of solid colors than you would be TURNING.

Turn it on just because it's safer. To communicate with other traffic users.

You ALWAYS signal a turn. That's why there are signals/blinkers on your car. That tells the car behind you what you are going to do. More importantly, it tells the car coming in the other direction what you are going to do.
Remember the rules that you had to memorize before you wrote your driver's license exam? It stated, very clearly, that you MUST signal a turn, whether it is changing lanes or going around a corner.

I always use my turn signal (turns, lane changes, etc) for three reasons: 1) it's the polite thing to do. 2) it's safer is people know what you're planning. 3) it's the LAW - I know people who have gotten tickets for not signaling. It's just not worth taking the chance!

I put my 'signal' on when turning. To turn without a signal is against the law (at lease in my state).
The 'signal' or 'blinker' lets the other drivers know your intent.
If you don't put it on, and an accident occurs, then you are in big trouble. (as far as traffic laws are concerned, and if you are filing a report to your insurance dept.)

Use it. Turn signals are there to be used when making turns. It gives others notice that you will be turning. In my area, you can be pulled over and ticketed for not using it when turning.

Use the blinker. All you have to do is move you hand an inch and it turns off when you turn. It isn't inconvenient or anything.

when turning onto another thoroughfare or changing lanes, you are to "signal your intent" as to what direction your vehicle will be moving towards.
there are those that see a turn signal as something you activate after you are in the process of turning or to hang rubber bands off of. many of these vehicles also seem to be the more expensive and allegedly safer vehicles on the road driven by "the chosen".
ah, but i digress.

It used to be called a courtesy light.
It was intended to let other drivers and people know your intentions.
Irregardless of the law it IS common sense and courtesy to use it at all times.
Even if local laws do not state you have to use them it is by all means practical and safe. Even at an intersection.
