Try keeping the kittens in the room where the litter box is for a few days. Be sure to keep it clean but leave just a bit of the kittens business there so they know where to go by smell. Also, be sure to use an unscented litter and a litter box with low sides so they can get in the box easily.
It's important that the food and water be kept on the other side of the room and not too close to the box (no one likes to eat next to their toilet!)
After each feeding, place each in the litter box and use your fingers to scratch around a bit.
Once they start using the box regularly, you can increase the amount of space they have freedom in. If your house is set up for it, it's still best to give them just a little more space at a time. Babies can have a hard time getting to the box when they are a long way from it -- much like human children do.

You need to show them where the litter box is. Then place them in the litter box. Dig around a little with your fingers to get them interested.
Do this several times a day...eventually they will get the idea & use their litterbox. Just make sure it's placed in an accessable place in your home that they can easily find & that nobody can close off from your kittens.
If you can anticipate when they'll need to do their business, such as after a long nap, a play session or a meal - place them in the litter box around those times if it's more likely that they'll need to "go".
I'd also like to suggest, as they grow up, to provide them with a 2nd litter box. It is recommended to have as many litter boxes available as the number of cats that use them and then plus 1. So if you have 2 kittens, when they grow up it would be best to have 2 litter boxes at the least. Especially if you have a very large house.
Good luck with the potty training...lol

Kittens will return to places where they can smell their business. Keep the litter tray really clean. When u seen them start their business pick them up and put them in the dirt tray. They will soon learn

Litter training doesn't fully "kick in" until after 8 weeks. You have to be patient a little longer.
Put the poops in the box and keep showing them where it is. Sometimes it helps to get more than one box. Some cats won't share and sometimes little legs can't make it to a box in another room.
Good Luck, hang in there.

Just be very patient and gentle with them. Keep an eye on them and when you think they are sniffing around gently put them on the litter tray. They will soon use it. Cats are very clean animals and will always use the tray.

Keep putting them in their litter box and show them how to dig in it. They should get the idea. Make sure the litter is kept clean, and the other places they have gone need to be cleaned very well and try to get rid of any trace of their smell there or they will think its okay to go there again. Good Luck!

well i got lucky i have older cats so the kitty i have learned by watching them. but if you dont have that, and i'm guessing you dont you will have to just place them in the litter box as often as possible. after my kitty eats i would put it in the litter box. they have kennels for cats n dogs that are large enough to put in a little litter box. they learn to poo in the litter box , because the other space is where they eat and sleep. cats are very smart. good luck. click on the link below it's a page from petsmart.com and shows a kennel i have for my feral cat. i rescued her and that's where she lived for two weeks while getting use to the litter box. good luck!
