okay, i have a really good guy friend, we talk online and at church, but he lives in a different town. but he confuses me SO badly. one day, he'll technically tell my friend he likes me like that, and then the other hes ignoring me or talking to me less, and then he talks to me a bunch and flirts with me and its like an ongoing circle of things. its so confusing, please tell me whats going through his mind?

Let me guess, you guys are in your teens, right? He probably is just scared. Scared to admit it one minute, scared not to the next. One minute he thinks he wants a girlfriend the next he doesn't. They never really outgrow this, unfortunately. If you like the guy 'in that way', take charge and let him know. Or else move on and quit wasting your precious youth on a fickle boy!! Good luck!

He's riding his emotions, However he's feeling at the moment is how he's acting, and strangely enough, this has a lot to do with his outward environment. Take him there in his mind and he'll be there in the body. In other words, if you are friendly and nonflirtatious with him, I'm fairly sure the friendship will remain until he finds something he likes about that conversation and uses it to allow his imagination to think of things with you, and make him act fliratious again. However if you act flirtatious, you're almost fully guaranteeing that he will be flirtatious, unless there are people around that prohibits his want or need to do so.

It is hard to tell you what goes through any guys mind period... I would just take it as a friend so you do not get hurt unless you want more than friendship. Then you sit him down and tell him your feelings. Once he tells you his and he does like you more than friends, then he should not talk to you in circles.
If he is acting like he likes you, you could tell him that too. Ask him if he is interested in you as it seems he is sending signals in that direction and you want to make it clear.

maybe he's confused or even better yet nervous. Maybe he wants to open the door so that maybe u would make the first step thus relieving some stress off his shoulders. hes also probably just trying to see how u react to his flirting and seeing if you seem bothered by it. Men dont sense emotions as good as us females do.

I agree with Wench. Guys tend to be a little "special" sometimes when they can't figure out their feelings. Just give him some space, don't be all clingy-flirty, let him figure out his own thing. If the behavior persists, tell him that you are confused by the inconsistency of his behavior.

sounds like he's being trapped by females, and wants to play the field a bit before any type of committment.

It might be that his other friend may say something bad about you and he may be embarassed to say he likes you so he lies to him and says that he is ignoring you. And the other one probably says things supporting him so he is honest with him.

Just ask him directly. It's much easier that way. He might be acting strangely because he's not sure how he feels, or how his feelings would be received.
