Once you've signed and have been sworn in, you're in. I would suggest working out now and getting into some type of shape before basic. If not, your time in Basic Training will be even more difficult for you.

You won't ship if you are overweight, have a positive drug test, or your background check comes back negative. If any of those things happen, you will be discharged and it will be harder for you to get in later. I am currently a recruiter and deal with this on a daily basis. Just bust your butt, lose the weight and be honest with your recruiter.

once you swear in that means your in. there will be no more weigh ins after you swear in. What will happen is on ship date you stay at a hotel and the next day they put everyone on a bus and go back to meps and put you on a bus to go to basic where your going to loose weight. and the only thing that will get you kicked out is if you cant pass a pt test and keep failing it. It is hard to get kicked out of the military because they spend a crap load i believe $10,ooo on you thats what my drill always told us.

Truth is they do everything they can to help people stay it the military. It is a hard job and a good one. If you are just going in the military give it the 4 or so years and then decide what you think of the military then. At that point stay in or get out. But if you do join give it your all for your enlistment.

If you are over weight when joining, you'll be given some sort of profile. Then you'll have extra physical activities and perhaps special nutritional instructions to follow to try to help you trim down. Honestly, as a former military person myself, I doubt that once you are shipped out and undergo training, that you'll be able to hold your weight. Usually you go through enough physical training that you'll lose weight. In any case, good luck with that.

I dont think so. But seriously you should not gain weight right b4 going into bootcamp! So hard!! You can leave yourself after you've been sworn in, there are ways. But once you leave for bootcamp theres no going back. You need to workour ALOT now before you go!! They dont start off slow in bootcamp its hard at first, then they calm down. WORKOUT!!!

I can only speak to the Marines on this one.
If you show up in boot camp overweight, you will get two LARGE red stripes to wear across your overshirt denoting you're overweight. I saw the poor guys that had this, and they went through h*ll.
Believe me, you don't want it.
Loose it before you go.

if you are fat on your ship date, more than likely they will reno you and ship you out on a later date. if you are still fat, they will not let you ship. the best thing to do is to make sure you weigh at least one pound less than the day you joined.
