My favorite wine is Silver Oak Cabernet Saugvignon. It's from the Oakville region of Napa Valley. It sells for $100 a bottle so I don't have it very often. My favorite more affordable wines are usually Zinfandel. Rosenblum and Renwood are two of my favorite Zins.

I like to enjoy a nice bottle of Gamay Beaujolais, when not available which seems quite often, then I would move on to a nice Shiraz, or Pinot Noir. And never think that an expensive wine is better than a cheaper one. Some cheap bottles will surpass the more expensive wines. Of course when you like to enjoy something very sweet, for may be half a glass or glass I would go with a Porto wine. Enjoy.

I'm no connoisseur, but I love sweet wines. My favorite is Sutter Home Moscato. It is a sweet white wine and is very economical, about $6 per bottle.

Caymus Conundrum, 2001... unfortunately, it doesn't age well as a white and the later vintages just don't get "there," though they are still pretty good. For a red, Le Corton, tete de cuvee 1962 - Rapet Pere et Fils... YUM!
