Bad mother in laws, usually have a problem letting their sons go and realising they have lives of their own, the son has to put the mother in her place, there is no way the daughter in law can change things with her, its up to the son

This is a catch 22 situation, damn if you do and damn if you dont. You dont want to confront her because it causes too much friction between you and your spouse so most jsut bide their time in hopes of a better tomorrow. I know cause I have the ultimate mother in law from hell living with us now because of 2 major strokes and there hasnt been a day I missed in the past 27 years that I havent prayed for her to move on but no one else wants her. Shes the exact kind that would make a wolverine or grizzly bear run for cover. Id even bet that the Iraq war would end if I sent her there, but every time I approach her my wife steps up for her and tells me to leave her alone or else I can leave. Im just wondering how much more I can take. Our lives are planned around her, we go on vacation when she leaves for Cleveland, and we tug her along wherever we go or else. Maybe someday a better life will come, Good luck

Two out of three were good -then I got one straight from hell-she owned him so I finally let her have him back for good!!!!! A mother-in-law and daughter-in- law should try to care for each other with all their heart then if they can not- keep their distance from each other and at least show some respect for each other! I know it was not all me because none of her sons could be married!!!!!! She has passed away now but not before I divorced him(or should I say them)-I am just glad it is all over!!!!! THANK GOD!!! If your husband is MARRIED to MOM divorce them both as soon as possible-don't put yourself through that kind of HELL!

At first i was not to fond of my mother-in-law. She is loud, curses a lot. To top it off she has not worked in over 15 years. She is capalbe of working, but she would rather collect social security and take pain pills all day long. My husband and I just got married and had a baby, and she has been a lot of help. Now that things have calmed down I acually like to spend time with her.

My mother in law is a bipolar, pot smoking, judgemental B**** Who dosen't work but thinks everyone else should so they can give her what she thinks is owed to her.I put up with her for my husband who thinks the same of her. We can't visit her because she is seriously crazy and likes to argue. She needs to be hospitalized but all her kids inheritated a little of the crazy (except my husband thank God) and like arguing with her so they wont get her help. My husband is the only one in that family who did something with his life. I like to take a little credit for that.lol!

My in laws are rural country southern. I am from a large midwestern city. When I first married my husband we had LOTS of problems. They still meddle, etc. But I have learned to deal with them and then with me.
If I her hubby won't stand up for her that is problem #1 -- and it is a problem that I had. But he learned in time. My MIL also wanted me to comment on my brother and sister in laws and should she do this or that etc. I just told her it was their marriage and none of my business, and she has finally stopped trying to get me to meddle and gossip with her.
My in laws also complained they never say my step child enough, and played all kinds of mental games with her. My husband again had to step up to the plate and tell them it wasn't acceptable.
Many men and boys are afraid to stand up to mom and dad. If this guy won't the problems will continue.
