I'm not challenging any beliefs and I speak English just fine, thank you. I myself am agnostic just looking for opinions. No need to be rude!

The problem with people like Elphsaba is she doesn't see the contradiction she is making when she answers a curious question in a rude manner & yet she asks questions like "why can't all christians be nice & kind & unjudgemental?" My question to you is why can't you uphold yourself to the same standards as you expect of others!

i think that it is not the evidence of a non existence that makes an atheist, but the lack of evidence for his existence.

all that most Athiest's want to see is concrete Proof. and it is the lack of that proof that makes them believe the way that they do.

think about it.

there is a man in the sky that is all powerful...

why cant he prove to me that he is there?

he does not work that way you have to have faith...

why should i believe in something that i cannot see?

because he loves you....

But he is going to punish me for all eternity . just because i dont believe in him when he has given me no proof?

the bible says it is true....

the bible says i should kill a man that works on the sabbath day..by stoneing him, how is this right?

Jesus died and made it all better so we do not have to do that any more...

God let his own son die so that my sins could be forgiven, why could he just not forgive me. why did he have to put his son through a liveing hell?

because he works in mysterious ways...

why is it that when something good happens it is the will of a merciful god, and when something bad happend heworks in mysterious ways?

the bible says........................(interrupt)

we have been ther already answer the question please....
Why did an all powerful god have to rely on a human messanger and why did he allow his messanger his very own son to die a tortured death.

ummmmmmm..................

yeah sure.....Next...

I am not an atheiest, nor am I a religious person. The Bible cannot be proved 100%, neither can evolution. Everything is supposition and theories. I like to keep an open mind and will only believe something when it is proven, and may I say there has not been a lot that has been proven 100%. Years ago they said it was a fact that nothing could move quicker than sound. Years ago they said it was impossible for man to fly (in an aircraft I mean....lol) Technologies have become so advanced now that the "facts" of yesteryear have now been proven only to be a theories. It is your belief system that determines what you believe to be your truth. I dont think a Christian person should be condemned for their belief systems...they believe it to be the truth, even though it cant be proven. Athiests believe there is no God because of the literature they read and believed. There are more non-factual beliefs than there are factual beliefs. Who is right? I wouldnt have a clue.

What makes you think atheists are all 100% sure? Atheism is a lack of belief in a god or gods, not necessarily a certainty that they don't exist. They're usually divided into either strong or weak atheists.

A good analogy would be three people sitting in chairs in the desert, never able to move except to talk to each other and stare ahead. One is a theist, one is a strong atheist, and the other is a weak atheist. If the theist says "there is someone standing behind us," the strong atheist would say "no there isn't" while the weak atheist would say "I haven't seen any evidence that would convince me of that." If the theist argued that the man standing behind them created the desert, the chairs, and them, the strong atheist would have to say "no, we, the desert, and the chairs were all formed by X process or Y chain of events." The weak atheist would say "it is liklier that we got here because of X process or Y chain of events," or "I don't know how we got here, but your story of a man standing behind us that we can't see creating everything sounds a little farfetched."

I don't feel the need for evidence, in fact it is quite the opposite. I feel there is no evidence of a higher power. Just look at the first several responses to your question. "They are losers" etc. It seems most religious people have trouble putting together an intelligent comment.

Every where we look though, religious groups claim evidence of God, when everything they point to is mere coincidence or has known causes that are NOT in the realm of God. But then again, if you WANT to believe in God, then no matter what I say you will refuse to listen to it. The same goes for me. I believe that there is no God, so any evidence you provide I will view it as pure coincidence.

My biggest issue is that there is no way to give proof of God, and no, the bible does not count. You can quote the bible over and over, but considering that half his people only pick and choose certain parts to follow, and claim that other parts are outdated, etc.

I honestly believe there is no God, and no afterlife. We should live as good, honest human beings working to help each other. Any one else that believes in God, that is there choice. In my heart I understand that they need ot feel like there is a meaning to life. Whereas I realize that life is just that...life. No Heaven or hell, just us humans working together.

Its funny how agnosticism has not become some new concept that means "I'm on the fence about this. It could exist, but it also couldn't." The chickenshit position. Why not be "agnostic" about the flying spaghetti monster or unicorns? Doesn't make much sense does it? The whole point of Atheism is that you don't believe in something unless there is at least some credible evidence. Atheism, unlike Christians like to portray it, doesn't mean "God doen't, can't, and never will exist, and he are 100% about this."

I am not 100% sure of anything. I just don't believe in gods. I would say I am about 99.9% sure which is good enough for me. I estimate the likelihood of gods to be about the same as genies, ghosts, toothfairies, and other similar myths.

It seems to me that you don't know the meaning of atheist. An atheist is someone who lacks a god belief. There is no requirement that atheists are sure of anything.

personally,, i'm only about 99.9999999999 (and several billion more nines) % sure that there's no god. and for this, i have plenty of evidence, as well as counter evidence against the existence of god. (if you'd like me to elaborate, just ask.),,, not to mention, many definitions of god (e.g. - all-powerful AND all-loving) can be ruled out because of their contradictory natures.

now,,, what about you? are you 100% sure that there IS a god. you should be careful not to be too sure of your beliefs.

----------------------------------

edit-

hey, i just read your additional details and noticed that you're agnostic. i used to consider myself agnostic and DEFINITELY NOT atheist because i figured that the definitions for those words were as follows:

theist- one who is sure that there IS a god.

atheist- one who is sure that there is NOT a god.

agnostic- one who isn't sure whether or not there is a god.

but then i realized that like a lot of words, "atheist" has more than one meaning.

atheist def1- one who is SURE that there is no god.

atheist def2- one who BELIEVES that there is no god.

see,, the word "atheist" only focuses on the idea that there is no god. it doesn't specify whether this idea is believed or known for sure though. --- i would definitely say that i am an atheist according to definition 2. in fact, this better describes me than "agnostic", which is sorta nebulous.

i'd say that the most clear terms would be the following 5 definitions:

gnostic theist - one who is sure there is a god.

agnostic theist - one who believes there is a god, but recognizes that he/she might be wrong.

true agnostic - one who isn't sure either way.

agnostic atheist - one who believes there is no god, but recognizes that he/she might be wrong.

gnostic atheist - one who is sure there is no god.

i would call myself an agnostic atheist, but would make it very clear that my beliefs are very strong.,,, perhaps a "strong agnostic atheist". --- also, the word "doxical" might be better suited than "agnostic" to represent someone who believes but doesn't "know".

All the harshness, violence and imperfection of the physical world must not have been the work of a loving "God". Someone who supposedly knows the results of his works before they were created -- or were even conceived.

The only conclusion is that we are all freaks of nature and of chaos -- not perfect creations by "God".

You assume that all atheists are strong atheists while many aren't. Strong atheists deny the existence of any gods. Weak atheists simply don't believe in any gods.

Strong atheists don't have to be 100% sure that no gods exist in order to say that no gods exist. We aren't absolutely sure that the sun will rise tomorrow morning but we can say it with enough certainty because of the evidence that we have. If the average adult was asked if Santa Clause exists, they would say no. Are they absolutely sure that Santa Clause doesn't exist? No, but they can still say and have good reason to say that Santa Clause doesn't exist. This is the same way it is when it comes to gods and (some) strong atheists.
