Iraq is not like the US (built up of states) but they do tend to live in family areas or rather tribal districts. Some areas are rather beautiful and the sunsets are worth seeing. But it is true that most of it is a giant sand box. But to the Iraqi’s it is not about how beautiful it is or even how useful it is but that it is an inheritance or in many ways to them a holy place. Their family land.
