Kerala stands high in the Human Development Index despite its poor income which is much below the Indian Average.

Kerala's literacy rate is the highest among indian states- 93%
Kerala's Life Expectancy is 71 years where as India's is 60.
Infant Mortality Rate of Kerala is just 17 per 1000 and India's is 85/1000
Annual Birth Rate of of Kerala is 1.6% but India's is almost double of it.

All these data are comparable with the index of developed countries. That is the paradox! Kerala has proved that to attain a decent standard of life we needn't have a lot of money. This is the Kerala Model of Development.
