Whereabouts in London (prefarably south) can you get good old fashioned chips?? You know the type: thick cut potatoes that taste DELISH when doused in vinegar (ketchup optional!!).
I tried Olleys near Brockwell Park about a year ago, and whilst they were still better than the pathetic skinny American-style "fries" that get palmed off at all these nasty chicken & chips shops, besides being expensive, they're still nothing like the chips we got as kids (I'm in my mid-20s, btw)
There doesn't seem to be any decent fish and chip shops in the capital anymore :-( They all seemed to have morphed into those chicken and fries joints (where have they all sprung up from over the past 10 or so years???).
Any help appreciated!!

When giving your suggestions, please include the name of the shop as well the address/desciption of where it is (won't be able to do much with "that really good place in Hackney!!). Thanks.

I know exactly what you mean mate, I try to try as many as I can in search for the ones you describe.
I found a small fish and chips shop on a road called Marylands Road called Paddington Fish Bar, off Harrow Road (W9), its at the very beginning, next to a pub. I know it's not in south London but it's the best you'll find, trust me. Thick, quite soft, well fried, made with love. The fish they do is also fantastic.

Jacks on the Uxbridge Road in Hillingdon do lovely chips. Big, thick and cooked while you wait so really hot. Bit of a way to travel but worth it.

true question, most decent girls have disappeared and its a thing in the past. Females have changed there ways dramatically and unless we men stop looking all together and let them come to us we pass them by.
