Well ideally you shouldn't go if there's no way that you can stay off the drink. If you start fighting again you may lose the job and could end up in the cells. If you need an excuse not to drink you could say you're on medication - antibiotics for a chest infection or something - and you cant mix with alcohol. If you do decide to go - good luck.

I dont go to xmas partys for that very reason - the boss usually starts throwing his weight around as if he was at work - I usually start throwing my opinions around after a few drinks !!!

~~~Personally I hate "work" parties and get togethers,,,I work all week long with these people,,,why on earth would I want to spend my night off with them,,,why would I want to meet there husband/wife or meet their kids,,,I have already seen hundres of photos of them,,,,why do I need to spend my precious time off with them,,,,,So my suggestion,,,dont go. Treat you and your spouse to a nice nite out on the town just the two of you,,,,you will have more fun that trying to deal with your boss (who was probably drunker that you) Pass the Christmas party this year,,,,,
If you go, don't drink and leave at a decent hour. Don't be in the last crowd to leave and stay away from your boss.
Well then if you want to keep your job then I wouldn't reccomend it. However you could always go to the Christmas party and *gasp* NOT DRINK.
They are unlikely to forgive you a fourth time! Either try to keep off the hard stuff or stay away. It's quite easy to disguise a glass of water to make it look like a gin and tonic.
Go for it. Sounds like you're looking to get rid of the job, and this would be a good opportunity! LOL
Yes and try and not drink to much and prove that you have the will power to have a great time and not make a fool of yourself
