At 5'5" you don't sound overweight at 140.

The answer as to which plan depends on YOU. When you choose an eating plan it's for life, especially a low carb plan. If you go on one of these plans as a "diet" and then go back to what you were previously eating you'll just gain the weight back.

It's a complete myth that Atkins clogs the arteries or can damage any healthy organ. It's actually extremely heart healthy since we burn fat for energy and do not store it. But you can't do Atkins as an on again off again plan. High carbs AND high fat will send you to an early grave.

To help you choose between the two plans I can only suggest that you look at the food lists and see which is more appealing to you. The other difference would be cravings. If you find that you crave carbs - you know, you start on the chips, popcorn or pretzels and can't quit thing - I'd recommend Atkins. Once you get into fat burning mode you lose all cravings. That doesn't happen on the Beach, although there is some improvement.

Don't feel locked in once you choose. If one plan doesn't make you happy you can always switch to something else. It's part of the learning process for finding a lifetime eating plan that will keep you healthy.

My vote as always is... Atkins. :o)

Southbeach is better from what I heard from a a Southbeach I belonged to but I worked in fast food and know atkins helps diabetics but also can tear up the organs involved. I would say Southbeach is the safer out of the two.

south beach diet is better....as one before me said Atkins clogs arteries. You get faster results on the SB diet as well. on phase 1 you can lose 5-12 lbs in the first two weeks....and like another person said answering your question, they are wrong, you can stay on the SB diet for life, its actually proven to be VERY healthy.

You do not lose water weight on the SB diet either, you really do lose FAT. You can still eat fruits after a certain amount of time on the SB diet, but in moderation. I know about this diet because its the only one that has ever worked for me.

None of these diets is better. Losing weight is a psychological and physical process. First you must want to do it, not to look better or feel accepted or impress, but for your health. It must be a goal and a serious goal. Physically, exercise is the key to losing weight followed by a change in eating habits. These diet packages fail because they promise a quick win. Losing weight is a long-term process and goal.

I would say Southbeach definately. It lets you eat almost anything as the Atkins just lets you fatty foods in the long run will clog you arteries faster.

I like southbeach. I do a modified version of it. I found what really works for me and what keeps me from wanting to over eat.

I do allow myself carbs but only whole grain and whole wheat on a limited basis.

You are not able to examine a person to a girl. Each is specific. But a person, and a girl, supplement every different. In different phrases, one guy and one lady (in combination) is one unit. They are a complementary pair.

I suggest you consider the newly developed weight management plan called Cinch - Keep muscle you have. - Burn fat you don't need. - Lose inches you don't want.
