(It's the third Sunday in a row this has happened - always when the usher is looking away)

Yes, it is stealing. I would inform the pastor of the problem and make eye contact with the woman as she takes the money out and maybe make a throat clearing noise to catch her attention. There are others ways to help the homeless in the church and churches usually have programs to assist the underprivileged. Taking money out of the offering plate is taking money from God since tithes are an offering to God.

How can that be that the usher looks away when he comes to that woman three weeks in a row?

usher is a partner in this crime. The homeless woman splits the money with the usher. They live in a $ 5 million dollar house and have a butler.

If this is the third Sunday in a row this has happened, it is probably about time your church offered to help this woman, don't you think?
If the church can't afford to help a homeless woman, then, maybe, you are in the wrong church!!

i would talk to the usher, remind him or her to keep an eye on the plate...its obvious the woman is calculating enough to time her little "snatch and grab"....... the woman needs food not money.....money can be spent on illicit things......food cant....i go to a large cathedral and even the ushers have a sharp eye on the plate

I would not have let that happen in the first place. I would have taken her hand and put the $ back. We would go to the pastor and ask him for help, where i worship that would not be a problem. We would help her fix the problem, she needs our help and we are here to serve others, yes?

Of course I would!!!! If I didn't, I would be just as guilty as she is. You are probably the type of person who always looks the other way. I wouldn't be helping her if I continue to let her be a thief.

Why would you ask a question like this??? How old are you?

Well, what is the money for? The needy, yes? Why not have this direct deposit? Leave her alone. She gets a little money, some warmth and companionship.

Lord yes>
One does not help oneself to money out the collection plate-that is stealing not charity.

Are you insecure about faith or youself?

Pass that plate to me if you don't care?

well i guess you could tell someone, i might just tell the homeless lady, tell her if she needs money to ask the church, and theyll give it to her instead of her stealing...
