Well, it's the right time of the year to be scared of the dark (Halloween). Just think, in a couple of months you'll be scared of stuff coming down your chimney.

It is not stupid to be afraid.

We are all afraid of the unknown. And you know what? Do you know the reason why you are afraid? It is a good thing you know.

It is a way that you body tells you that he loves you and that he cares for you. He cares for you so much that he wants to protect you from harm. The only way your body knows is to give you the feeling of fear. It's natures way of protecting itself.

To overcome the fear of darkness, you will need to trust. To overcome fear you need to trust. For some, they trust a friend to be with them in that darkness, for others, they trust something else like a weapon for protection or something.... for me, I trust in God through that darkness. Somehow, you will feel much safer when you have something to trust on.

You are perfectly normal.

No it's not stupid its a phobia. I'm terrified of heights does that make me stupid? You could seek help though if it's that bad. there are counselors who work with people who have phobias. Good luck from one scaredy cat to another. Don't let this run your life.

We're all scared of something. My friend's 19 year old is afraid of thunder and lightning. I'm terrified of heights, but we were offered a free hot air balloon ride and I'm going to go just cause my husband really wants to go. Course, I'm not in it yet.

No, many people are afraid of the unknown, if you can't see, you don't know what you may be walking towards. This is a fear most of us conquer as soon as we feel secure and safe.
