Tuna and chicken taste like that because that's what they are made of. I don't think anyone wants to feed their cat food actually made from mice. Would you, really?

Besides, in order to be stable in the can, it has to be cooked, and usually preserved in other ways, as well. Now, if you would like a job in a cat food factory cooking mice . . .

You know, the chicken and the tuna that is cooked is decent food for humans, too, and smells sort of like it. I've had mice die behind the floor boards; the smell is not encouraging.

And there's no proof cats like to EAT mice nearly as much as they like to CHASE and CATCH mice. It's the chase, as far as I can see, that is their main trip. Responding to ancient habits. Eating food out of a dish that was prepared by humans is not part of their ancient habits, but their more recently acquired ones. I personally don't think they'd eat it. Probably would not even recognize the smell of cooked mice, especially without the singed fur.

There were Artic explorers in the 19th century who ate mice to survive. That was after they had eaten the sled dogs and before they had to cannibalize the corpses of their companions to survive. They aren't around to ask what "mouse flavor" is like. If you can find a chicken with a good flavor these days I would like to know where to get one.

Anyway, mice are just natural prey of the cat whatever the flavor might be. Tuna and other fish aren't really in the majority of cat diets.
