I just watched a DVD of a Canadian show called, "The Big Picture with Avi Lewis," which Richard Dawkin's documentary, "The Root of All Evil," was aired. It was very interesting, as was the audience discussion following the documentary (which is what Avi Lewis's show does). This particular documentary discusses militant religion being on the rise worldwide and the dangers associated with religion (all religions).
Dawkin also spoke of his book, "The God Delusion." I'm tempted to purchase the book, as he says he was able to go into more detail than video allowed. I tire of the endless debate of the existence of god vs no god. However, it appears the book spends more time focused not on that debate but rather the negative impact religion has on society, of which I wholly agree.
I appreciate your question, as I'd love to read what others who have read Dawkin's books have to say about them.

I have just started "The God Delusion". Wow! It seems like a powerful book, a powerful case for atheism. His tenets contradict some of my own beliefs as a Deist, but that is no reason not to read it and certainly not reason to dismiss it as "the work of Satan", as many will. I might actually learn something new from this book in my personal quest for real and logical truth. I trust my mind for truth far greater than I trust emotions and superstition.

I easily have examine it a pair of cases. once you're keen on Dawkins then you definately will probable like it. it quite is a stable assessment of a controversy against monotheism and is written for sure and (quite) concisely. quite nicely worth a examine and that i'm particular it is going to strengthen the perspectives you carry.

Yes, he certainly has it in for religion and I can't fault him for that, but he tars God with religions brush so to speak which is unfair. His insistance that God does not exist seems to be based more on the fallibility of religion than anything else. If you can't divorce God from religion then there can be no unbiased debate as to whether he exists or not

Actualy, his work on religion (e.g, the concept of memes) is the most rejected among scientific community. His most praised work is The Blind Watchmaker.
