Restaurants, coffee shops, fast food restaurants, you can even work at stores like Safeway bagging groceries & getting the shopping cards, there's also retail establishments like Long's Drug Store, Hallmark Cards & Gifts, Mervyn's, JC Penney's, Macy's, pet stores, Payless Shoe Source, retail sporting goods stores, video stores, music stores like The Wherehouse, Tower Records, gaming stores, computer stores, Best Buys, Staples, Office Depot, beauty stores, candy stores, K-Mart, Sears, book stores, Target, movie theater, vet hospital (if you love animals), etc. There are all kinds of places for you to work. You can also do some volunteer work as well as baby sitting, pet sitting, house sitting (water peoples plants, lawns, bring in the mail, feed & water their pets, etc. while they are on vacation).
I was surprised to see that the local In N Out Burger had a sign in their window that showed starting wages at $9.75 an hour, plus you get benefits and a 401K retirement plan (this is in California). That's really good especially for a teenager! It' never too early to start thinking about saving money for your retirement. If you happen to get hired by someone who offers a 401K plan it would be in your best interest to contribute to it. If they will match 3% or 5% of what you put in you should definately contribute whatever they will match. Some people, my brother, works for someone who contributes up to 3% however he only puts in 1% of his wages. Kind of silly since someone is giving you free money as long as you put in the same amount.
Good luck!

if u don't already have an office or workplace they can join u then the library's the next best thing, if not a callcentre, i don't know about shopping precincts though many kids do work there.
have u tried ur local blockbuster or video shop supplier?
perhaps a newsagent?
my sixteen y o sister also wanted work but i told her to do a course before she gets a job there are loads of companies online & off that would ignore her age & give her the qualification if she worked for it. I think it improves ones prospects quite some

Depending on what state you are in, you may want to check and see if your state has an apprentice program for high school kids. Allot of times they hire you as part-time workers as long as you keep your grades up. Also, since allot of mall stores are requiring you to be 18 to work, you may want to ty waitressing, it is more lucrative than a fast food establishment. But if worst comes to worst, you may want to start a community baby sitting club. Get some girlfriends together and have a team of babysitters that are avaiable at any time. my girlfriends and I would do that on weekends and we would clean up! Especially during the holidays which are fast approaching!

I know when I started out at 15, I got a job at Big Boy as a hostess and within a year I moved up to waitressing....you can try that. A resturant is a GREAT place to start.

Maybe you could try the library. They may not pay that great but you sure would learn alot and have access to lots of info. to help you with your homework. You may even be able to get permission to do your homework while you are at work instead of working hard all evening just to get home and have to do more work. Good luck.

I would say that you should start doing volunteer work for something that you know that you want to do in the future. This way it will get you to get a job faster because of experience, plus it will help you when you apply for colleges.

I worked at a chain grocery store. It offered benefits, was a union job, and the money is slightly more than minimum wage.
