I am a chiropractor & I get migraines too.
I go to the ER when I have a bad migraine, one that lasts more than a day... my neurologist encourages this, because once it lasts too long, you can stay in a pain cycle.
I take Topamax, either Zomig or Relpax for the migraine... I have Phenergan for the nausea/vomiting, and if needed I have Stadol nasal spray, a strong narcotic (like what they give you in the ER). Occasionally my headaches are so bad that all that stuff still doesn't work, and I have to go to the hosptial.
I have learned not to wait until it's been 2 days, but to see if it's one of those days where I have "maxed out" my meds for the days & I still have a killer headache--- then we just head for the hospital. No sense in just suffering.
Ask your doc about the phenergan and/or the stadol for home use & head for the ER next time, hopefully you wont have to.
Good luck-

You might try taking a warm to hot bath. Put 2-3 drops of lavender oil into the tub, along with 2-3 drops of eucalyptus oil and 1 small drop mint oil (seriously one small drop if it is real mint oil, or the oil will burn your skin!). Rub the back of your neck while you are soaking in the tub.
You might have TMJ (which gives you awful headaches) and not even know it. You might want to see a pain relief doctor... I had daily headaches for a long time before my jaw kind of stuck shut - I thought that they were migraines, but they were from the TMJ.
It could also be from food allergies. Wheat is a bad one for allergies. Also, I can't eat food with a lot of preservatives (anything canned, boxed, frozen, or premade). You might try weeding those out of your diet. Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration causes headaches.
There is normally good information and nutritional advice in a book called "Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing" (see link: http://www.amazon.com/Prescription-Nutritional-Healing-3rd/dp/1583330771/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_2_img/104-4812763-7154312?ie=UTF8)
Well, I hope that something helps out. I totally know how horrible it can be and I really do wish you the best.

I like to go to the chiropractor when I get mine...go to one that offers massage as well as an adjustment...it helps...afterwards drink lots of cold water to hydrate and rid your body of toxins, avoid stress for a while untill you feel better, eat light so your stomach don't get sick...don't feel guilty for resting, its ok. Stay off the computer and don't watch too much t.v. I know its boring but just relax. My favorite migraine med is Imitrex, zomig works well too...and my friend just let me try Amidrine which seemed to work for my headache at onset. I've had migraines for years so I've tried them all. I have some that last for days and literally make it hard for me to work...usually its hormones that cause them for me. You should see a doctor about changing your meds, try the ones I suggested.
