You are allowed to take one piece of hand luggage and it must not contain any liquid based products i.e creams, toothpaste, lip balm etc. At our airport you are allowed one lipstick in your hand luggage but it must be solid (not lip gloss). All electrical items i.e. Ipods, games consoles and mobile phones are allowed in your hand luggage. This all may vary depending on the airport you travel from.

the airport is awful! i flew from leeds bradford airport to germany 3 weeks ago and you arent's allowed to bring any liquids on the plane, open or unopened. in my handbag i had: vaseline, nail varnish, a lighter, an unopened carton of juice and a lipgloss - these were all confiscated and i had to buy a stamp and envelope for £2 to post them back home. You also have to take off shoes, coats and belts when walking through the detector. any mobile phones or digital cameras must be switched off and on again to make sure they are "real" and working. hope this helps. ps - i assume london airports will be even stricter than this - you have been warned. xx

Hrathrow is busybusybusy! NO make-up, perfume, food or drink and any of the other usual prohibited items. Nothing in a liquid form at all in hand luggage. see BAA website. Allow an extra 30 mins to go thru security. Oh you can now take a book!
Who cares how long it takes to board anyway ? at least you know you wont be getting off early over the Atlantic eh?
