Hi my cat is 13 years old and was in good health. He is indoor cat. I have noticed he is taking big breaths breathing at 36 breaths per minute. He seems to not be able to sleep on his sides. Occaisonly he breathes out of his mouth for a few seconds. He has been eating plastic his whole life and I noticed a ton of it in his feces today. I am wondering what this sounds like? He is terrified of vet does this sound serious enough to go? :(

We took our beloved spotty in. The vet said eating plastic bags(6 years ago) has no harm, some like the taste and it goes thrrough their system like grass. We found something in the xrays. It was heart failure. We unfortunately had to put him down which was the hardest tthing ive ever had to do. He was 13-14 years old and lived a beloved life of leisure RIP

I'm a veterinary technician and I'm telling you to get your cat to a vet. It definitely sounds like your cat is sick. While it could be from the plastic-- there's a strong chance it is-- there could be another problem as well. A respiration rate of 36 BPM is a little fast but I've seen worse. I have a cat with heart disease and one with asthma and when they have "attacks", it's much faster than 36 BPM. Still, there is something going on to make him breathe that fast. Pain can cause rapid breathing, and it's very possible that your cat has got some plastic stuck somewhere in his GI tract. This can kill your kitty.
Your kitty might be terrified of the vet if you take him, but he could be dead if you don't.

It relies upon on the placement. If the dogs is whelping a clutter of domestic dogs or a cat has somewhat diarhhea then the 1st determination could be to look after it at homestead to be certain if the placement gets extra desirable. And mutually as waiting human beings can ask different puppy vendors in the event that they have any innovations on a thank you to handle the concern and ask for conventional suggestion. If it would not get extra desirable then the subsequent determination is the vet. some human beings do have some hum dingers at here, yet for the main section the questions are stable, valid ones.

No but a vet may be able to if you take him in like yesterday. Honey you dont deserve to have pets if you let him eat plastic and have to ask if a breathing problem is serious

absolutely take him to the vet before it's too late. Plastic can get caught in the throat, windpipe, intestines, etc. If it's not the plastic, it could be an upper respiratory infection. Get him to the vet NOW!

he could have an obstruction...if he isnt eating, vomitting, and straining to go to the bathroom its definitly a possibility...i would get an xray done at ur vet just to make sure...open mouth breathing for cats is not a normal activity and an obstruction can easily kill a cat or dog.
