Of course it doesn't. If it did, any Christian who wore a cross on a chain would be an idolater. It says we are not worship the image itself, as they did with the golden calf. To use an object, or even another person in place of God as the OBJECT of our worship is idolatry. But to use an object to remind us of the God we worship, the same way we use photos to remind us of people we love, is a godly practice Christians should make more use of.
It's sad to see a church stripped of anything that really reminds us of God, so that it looks more like a town hall than a place of worship, because of misinterpretation of this passage.

ITs the worship of images & idols thats wrong.
Having the images themselves or statues is AOK.
Problem there are many actually worshiping the cross or a statue of mary to the point that its equal to JESUS...which is wrong.

I don't know the answer, but I've always wondered whether Christians realize that the Jesus in your images is probably not how he looked. Go to the middle east today in that region and tell me if people look like that? He was probably a little darker and more Arab/Jewish looking (not white European Italian or something).
I think you should worship the CREATOR, not his CREATION.
Just my two cents. No offense to anyone.

The Ten Commandments prohibit making "graven images" or woshiping them.
Which means that Americans are really going to be screwed since our currency is a "graven image" and we obviously worship it.
We even engrave "In God We Trust" on our graven images to acknowledge they are our Gods.

Yes, Idol Worship, get a concordance and look up Idols. Idolatry was a very big no no to God!

The 2nd Commandment forbids "graven" images. Protestants and Catholics differ on what that entails.

Everyone is correct about the 2nd commandment, but it soes not stop with graven images. It also says not to have any llikenes of them. Read on ... We are not to bow down to them either. I know this is a Catholic practice. (I believe it incluldes the depiction of Jesus on the cross also)
I have pasted teh first 4 commandments. These have to do with our relationship with God.
Exodus 20
1. And God spake all these words, saying,
2. I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
1 vs3. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2 vs4. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
3. vs7. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4. vs 8. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
