Your cat probably has a urinary tract infection. You should take her to the doctor asap as this will probably get worse and could do serious damage . The vet will diagnose whatever the problem is but , no, she is not having a period. Cats dont have periods as humans do. Blood in the urine is a sign of a serious problem. dont delay getting your cat the help she needs .

She could possibly have a urinary tract infection. Get her checked by the vet. If she hasn't been spayed, she could be in heat, but the frequent attempts to urinate seem to indicate a urinary tract problem.

If she is trying to urinate every 5 minutes, she may have crystals in her urinary tract or bladder stones. Watch her when she goes. If it appears she is having difficulty, then get her to a vet. If it turns out she has crystals in her urinary tract, your vet may suggest a change in diet.

Sounds like a urinary tract infection or bladder infection. Get her to a vet. Any bleeding from her heat would not show up in her urine.

NO!
She's having some sort of bladder problem.
Take her to the vet NOW.
The reason I say now, even though she is a female cat, is because although unlikely, female cats CAN block- meaning they can get stones/crystals that block the exit from their bladder. Which means they can't get the pee out.
This is fatal if not treated immediately. If you can't pee, you die painfully. Bladder rupture, very sick, very bad.
Most likely she is NOT blocked, but has a baldder irritation or infection, which is very painful.
So get to a vet, even your local Emergency Hospital.
Why risk life and death?

It could be a number of things that could be causing this.
Like most of the other answers, it could be a UTI.
However It could be a number of other things as well.
You should call and make an appointment with your vet as soon as possible. Like most things if not treated, it can cause other problems that can be very costly.
good luck

Your kitty is sick and needs to see the Vet. Kitties don't get periods like we do. She probably has a urinary tract infection and may end up with a blockage and die if you don't get some medication into her. Please take her to the vets ASAP

There is a strong possibility that she is blocked, or has an infection. Better get her to the vet as soon as possible. Good luck.
