You can be firm and polite. Tell them you are not interested. Tell them (don't ask them) to not come back. Tell them you would hate to involve the police for harassment from their organization, but you feel as if they are taking advantage of your politeness. Tell them it ends today. And turn your porch light off. And don't buy their magazines.

The Jehovah Witnesses are an interesting cult. They can readily outgun the average person. This is true because of a lack of Biblical knowledge on the part of their victims.
They deny the deity of Christ, His resurrection, hell and all the other basics of Christianity. The devil’s downfall is his pride. That is also the downfall of this cult. They pride themselves on Bible knowledge and consider themselves teachers. As teachers, they love to answer questions. So, let’s ask them one!
They have their own translation of the Bible, which in reality is an interpretation, not a translation. (A subject for another post.) It’s called the New World Translation. (NWT) This cult rejects all other translations, except the King James translation. For the sake of our story, we’ll use their NWT. Ask them to read John 1:1.
“In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.” (NWT)
John 1:14 says that the Word became flesh and is Jesus but we’ll stop at verse 1.
Now ask them, “What kind of God was he?” They will give you a puzzled look and ask what you mean. Ask them to read Isaiah 43:10b,“…Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none.” (NWT)
and Isaiah 44:6,“This is what Jehovah has said, the king of Israel and the Repurchaser of him, Jehovah of armies, ‘I am the first and I am the last, and besides me there is no God.” (NWT)
The Jehovah Witness in now in a very big predicament. The Word that “was a god” is either the true God, or a false god per Isaiah 44:6. If Jesus is a false god, the New Testament and all that Christ said is false. Of course, the truth is, Jesus Christ is God in the flesh.

Ideally, every householder should speak with and study the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. However, if Jehovah's Witnesses seem to be calling too often at a particular home, the householder simply needs to tell the Witness directly what he or she would prefer, without hoping that the Witnesses read his or her mind. For example, the householder might say something like this:
"I know these visits are part of your worship, but they are too frequent for my household. If you cannot limit your visits to once a month, then I'm going to have to ask that you not visit at all."
The householder can feel free to choose whatever interval he or she prefers. Jehovah's Witnesses are just as happy for the opportunity to direct their attentions to homes where their work is appreciated.

Year ago, I had a JW mother and son who stopped by often. I played along with them, as they were so simple minded, I enjoyed throwing my Jewish thoughts out at them. They did agree with alot I had to say.
Then, one of the Arab/Israeli wars happened (forget which one) and the boy said to me, ''Don't you wish G-d would kill every Arab on the earth?'' It made me furious! And, he thought he was so religious and holy! I started screaming at them-really screaming-and told them they were no followers of G-d, not my G-d. My G-d would not do this to a people. And, I went running at them, and they turned and literally ran out my door. They never came back. Later, as I thought about it, it became really funny.
I like what Jay Leno said on his show the other night. He said to get rid of JW, answer the door in the nude, and carry an Ax. Maybe you should try that.

Tell them that you do not want to be their "project" any longer. Simple as that.
They have a quota to meet so far as contacts and follow-ups. They write reports about their visits and then in a group session plan strategies for how they are going to approach you again and again and again.
If they seem like they are letting you "slip through their grasp" then you will notice that they conveniently have a "more experienced friend" arrive with them for their weekly, monthly visit. ---- It really is annoying, I know.
Once they get you in their sights they don't leave you alone because they believe that it is the enemy trying to prevent them from reaching you when you express a disinterest in further converstaions with them.
They really get a wrapped up in this "battle for your soul."
So unfortunately, I am afraid that you might have to be rude to get rid of them. At the very least, FIRM, FIRM, FIRM!

Usually an No Solicitation sign does the trick. There are specialty shops that sell No Proselytizing signs.
If signs are out of the question, be polite yet firm. Tell them you would appreciate it if they no longer visited your home.

I would explain to them that people from thier church have been by before and that you have explained to them that you were not interested and that the next time someone from thier church comes knocking on your door (unless it's for a drink of water) you will be calling the police and harrassing charges will be filed.

See if you can convince a male relative to open the door in the nude and say, with some enthusiasm: "You're just in time!"
They've never come back to my uncle's house.

The note on the door is the most sensible answer. The sqirrel is funny...and it would work. How about a porno door knocker....a big brass 'thing' with swinging balls.
