i want to believe in god but i really have no faith. i cannot except some of the things in the bible i think they are ridiculous, and i believe in evolution. the whole concept of god just doesnt make sense to me

I believe there is a suprem power, but I too cant believe in the bible... because I think any supreme god would not write a bible so full of contradictions & errors and allow such badly done translations since.
Its possible however, to be moral and good (like Jefferson often spoke, and even religious) without being christian or in fact be christian without the use of the bible.
Myself, I accept for arguments the KJ though I know it to be inacurate because I live among family of christians.
But I cannot accept ever that NIV is anything but a bad tranlastion because even if I were christina NIV would be contradictory to KJ, and in fact has verses that are exact opposites.

That's your choice. No one can be forced to believe in the Lord or in the words of the Bible. You either do or you don't. It seems rediculous to me that man could just evolve from nothing without the help of a higher being, but that's me. We are all entitled to believe in what we choose.

what specifically is it you are having trouble with what do you find ridiculous ? as for me i am the opposite I find the idea of evolution to absurd for an intelligent person to believe in it is a theory or opinion with no factual basis and has never been proven whereas all in the Bible is credible and based on facts and eyewitnesses as well as it is the inspired word of God talk to me let me see if I can help you with what is troubling you Gorbalizer

you can only believe in what God lets you believe in.
if you want to be a child of his, you need to be called. if you are feeling called, then you need to stop and listen.
only truly called ppl will ever spend eternity in the new jerusalem. read hebrews 15:15 . . they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
the bible refers to these as the predestinated. read ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.
hebrews 11:6 states that without faith it is impossible to please him.
even satan himself believes in God. now, do you want to just believe in him, or do you want to please him?
w/o faith it is impossible to please him. is he calling to you?? stop, shut up and listen.
