Hi. I am younger and not all that bright, but here are two thoughts. First, maybe you need "coaching". There is a new profession called personal coach that helps people analyze their life from a practical viewpoint and then make some concrete plans to get moving in a new direction. It isn't that expensive. This is not one of those "get rich quick" deals. Avoid those like the plague. No, this kind of coach is like a counselor, only for your work life not your emotional life. Check that out. I bet it could you a lot. Just find a coach that you feel comfortable working with. A second thought: your worth is not measured by money. You have been a source of strength and kindness to a great many people. That is something whose value is beyond price.

Bill You seem to already know what the problem seems to be. Stop trusting everyone and start looking out for your best interest. 52 is not to old to say enough is enough. Surround yourself with positive people and positive things will happen. Make sure you have friends that don't need something from you and leave the people alone that always take from you. Don't become a jerk but just start taking care of number one for a change.

It sounds like you have a big heart and people tend to see that as a weakness and use it against you for their own benefit.
I suggest that if you know that you can be talked down off of your prices get an assistant who will handle the sales and the go-between your clients. Or you are going to have to work on saying "no" not to be mean but you have to get sick and tired of being sick and tired... You are going to have to see that there are people out there who are just waiting for someone like you to get over on. You are going to have to stop being so nice when it comes to business, it's not personal to the client but you have bills. Trust me if it was someone else they would pay the money, no questions asked.
It's okay to be a good hearted person, but you cannot mix it with business if so or you will be age 62 facing the same issues.
You have to look at it this way too... if they know this is your means of income and they are trying to talk you out of it, how much respect do they truly have for you as a person. They are looking out for self and you should do the same!

Start looking at your bank balance and see it goes up.
Your present problem is on account of your actions
ignoring your future.
It is now too late.
But it is better late than never.
52 is still a working age.
Good luck.

This may sound stupid to you, but try reading the book "You Can Heal your Life", by Louse L. Hay. She talks about stuff like that. Some stuff she says may sound kind of crazy, but hey, you don't lose anything by trying.
