The same things are happening here in the UK. I don't care about being labelled a racist; I will voice my opinion - not that it does any good.

It is easier to call you names than admitting that anyone that enters the US illegally is breaking the law. This is also an easy way to deflect the focus away from the issue. Read the following real letter to the editor for a very good perpective on this topic. It is very long though for a Yahoo answer.

I know how you feel. The majority of illegals in America come from Mexico. They are desperate to not have to go back to those conditions. When you say America needs to deport illegals, they see it as an attack on the Mexican people. Mexicans are not the only illegals in America.... but they don't understand that.
One thing people need to realize is that illegal immigrants are not a "race" If they should call us anti-illegals anything I guess it should be predjudice? Oh well, I wouldn't worry about it. Like I said... it's only a desperate attempt to make people feel bad and change their minds about deporting illegals. Don't feel bad, we need to deport illegals... even if it does get us the label of "racists"

Are Americans the only people on Earth with rights to the resources of the world? Per capita (if you know what that means) you consume more resources, than any other nation. With guys like you, it won't be long before this comes to an end and with a big thud.

In the eyes of minorities everyone is a racist that disagrees with their agenda. Face it...embrace it & keep voicing your opinion. Maybe some day people will understand that illegal immigration means just what it says.

Personally, I disagree with you, but I don't find it racist in any way. You do provide some solid facts, but these illegal immigrants tend to be harder working than the average american. Yes, what they did is legally wrong, but all they want is to provide their families with a decent life that's not considered poverty.

Because it is easier to demonize your opponent than to make a reasoned, intelligent argument, and since the people who come in illegally are criminals by defination anyway, it would be impossible to make an argument that would really stand up!
So they accuse you of things and insult you, not the poor innocent illegals who knew what they were doing when they snuck in here.
Be illegal in Mexico and the Army will grab you and throw you in prison!!

The reasons are many and varied, The most obvious is that you debate with intelligence and factual information, to which they have no counter, so in order to attempt to deflect the truth, they label you a "bigot", "racist", or they try to discredit you by any foul trickery available.

This is a double-edged sword. We send BILLONS OF DOLLARS
to Mexico as foreign aid and then we support TWENTY OR MORE MILLION of their nationals who work here illegally and send HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY back to Mexico.
Mexico's greatest imported product?
AMERICAN DOLLARS!!!!!!
NOW for those who love to quote the words on the Statue of Liberty....she's referring to legal immigrants, not criminals.

Why do you call people pro illegals.. have you ever really listened to anyone but yourself? You would find most of us are not pro illegal immigration.. just anti racist, we find calling people names racist and offensive.. but why am I wasting my time.. you won't read this either.
