I'm trying to lease a 2006 Altima and because of the constant BS stories from the sales reps., I don't know if I should believe that the Altima I was looking at did not have the rebate because the engine wasn't replaced. Does that mean that it should have been?

Not all of the 2006 Altima engines needed replaced.
There were some with the 2.5L that had issues...
The ones that did were shipped back to the factory, a replacement engine was put in, and then the cars were returned to the dealer.

We had 5 Altimas and 3 Sentras that needed replacement engines. Those 8 vehicles have an additional rebate.
Most customers would shy away from a brand new car that had the engine replaced. The extra money off is an incentive to get those vehicles sold.

Only early production 2006 altimas had engine oil usage almost all were replaced either at dealership or Nissan repair centers. And why lease? You should make out better buying a year end 2006. ANd actually own the car three years from now.

All Altima's using the 2.5 liter engine were recalled, along with some Sentra's that share the 2.5 liter engine.

NO, THE REAR SUBFRAME HAVE MANUFACTURED INCORRECTLY, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRACK IN A BRACKET WHICH HOLDS PART OF THE REAR SUSPENSION. THE ONLY THING THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED IS THE IS THE BRACKET
