This is a reflection of how the racial discrimination has and always will exist to a certain degree. Those who discriminate on the basis of color are not worthy of being equivalent to others. Hate reflects a man's soul and says much about him but nothing about who he hates. A man who walks around bitter, arrogant and hates a man because of the color of his skin has painted a clear picture of his own soul. The picture is of trash! It is trash because it can serve no useful purpose.

I agree, it's basically saying the racism is bad.
Here are my thoughts about this quote: When you're a child, you don't see the bad things that people do to other people. You don't see skin color, you just do what is right or what is wrong. As you start to get older, you see the injustices that people do every day, and you have serious choices to make regarding your actions.
A person's character can be seen by how they treat others. Character is also something that you're shown, and you make a concious decision to "do the right thing" all the time. Also, all the money in the world does not buy happiness, and it surely doesn't by class.
Look at Hollywood today- lots of rich people who couldn't spend all of the money they have, and except for a select group of celebrities, the majority of them can't pull their personal lives out of the toilet to do something good for someone else who truly needs it.
Sorry, a little off the subject of "To Kill A Mockingbird". :)
Good luck.

It's a way of saying that character counts no matter what station in life you come from. White trash is a term that means a white person of lower social class with no prospects of moving up. It gets a negative connotation when directed against white people with the right family, education, and job.

Atticus was simply saying the injustice that white man had visited upon the black man would come back to haunt him in the future.
I personally doubt this has ocurred yet...but I keep hoping.

You must keep that whole thing in its proper context.. it was during the older times.. today is different.. But it(he) was referring to the character of the man as being trash.. anyone who would cheat another is trash because it is his character that is exposed.

It doesn't matter who you are, you aren't above anyone else. Treating someone badly, like "white men cheat black men everyday" brings you down to a level that is despicable.

No matter what your social position, or how much money that you have, when you cheat another person you betray yourself as a cheap little nobody. And racial prejudice is even worse.

No man has the right to cheat another man- no matter what race he may belong to.

It's basically implying that you can have all the riches in the world, but people are judged by their character, and riches won't change that

Racism that hides behind the mask of affluence or privilege is still wrong and ugly.
