I had the same problem all you have to do is download a new version of the web it will erase the one you now have and re-install a new one then you will find your helpdesk will work.

desktop help is no help at all, un-install it. I have problems with BT broadband every day. I disconnect on average 20-30 times in 24 hours, since using home hub.
I am on the verge of moving to someone else. A 25 minute wait on the phone for assistance is no help what so ever. Several hubs and line tests later the problem is still here. Suggested I get 8 meg broadband yeah right. 4 meg more like. On the whole not impressed with home hub.

I had huge problems with BT broadband, the voyager 205 router never worked, tried all sorts to get it going, tried different routers and modems but nothing ever worked. I had 5 people come to the house to check the line but apparently everything was fine. I was even on line for 3 seconds one day.
Eventually I just switched to telewest and things have been great ever since.

The one extra thing you probably don't have installed is msjava, for some reason they are using this rather than the normal sun systems java.
Have a look at this and see if it helps
http://www.btyahoo.com/broadbandassistance
click here to manually download the Microsoft JVM.
