=Not that I am a Walmart fan for putting so many stores out of business, but since the other stores are gone sometimes I have to go there due to the low prices on pet food. Walmart has very inexpensive dog treats, and since I use them for training and behavior modification for all 3 dogs, price is Important. You could go to a pet store and spend double of what you would pay at Walmart. Also Building 19, The Dollar Store, Ocean State Job Lot and others around here have the same thing for $.99 - $1.29. You are correct hotdogs are not healthy and loaded with salt. Dogs do not need salt as they have never developed a taste for it since their ancestors, and they have a balance of it in their system so they do not crave it like we do.

There are lots of pet treats, key word, PET. You really shouldn't be feeding your pets people food, a hot dog is bad enough for humans. On that note, doggie treats are typically loaded with sodium and treats should given in moderation as well as anything else for the health of the animal. I don't know if they still make them, but my dog used to like dinner rounds as a treat. It's actually a dog food, and they were sizey, so he thought they were treats. Since he didn't eat them every day in a bowlful, I guess they were a treat

I purchased a roll of average Balanca. It is offered as pet food but the sugar content is much too excessive to be fed often but I cut it up into proper sized portions and use that. The rolls are available in like 3-four one-of-a-kind sizes there is even one that's about $1.

I give my dogs plain or honey lowfat yogurt and they love it but do not give them yogurt flavored w/ artificial sweeteners or flavors. I read about this in an SPCA book. Milk is not good due to the lactose but because of the process made to make yogurt, it's okay for dogs. My best friend's vet recommended she give her dog Cheerios to lower her dog's cholesterol. I give my dogs Honey Nut Cheerios (sans milk) and they love it. Peanut butter every once in a while.
I do buy dog treats like biscuits and dog jerky but they can be pricey. I also feed my dogs slices of chicken/turkey but that can be pricey too.

Yes! I know of a perfect treat!!. Fill up a small plastic container with water. Put it in the freezer, then give it to your dog!. Dogs love ice, and its healthy since its only water! If you want to give yoour dogs something special, before you put the water in the freezer, put a little bit of cheese or peanut butter in it. Dogs love cheese and peanut butter, but see what your dog prefers. My dog likes the ice with peanut butter best. I hope my answer was of assitance to you.

You can...get training treats from a petstore(they don't have much fat in them), or if you don't want to do that then ask your local petstore if they can recommend some treats, but what I do is get a dog cookbook from the library and look for recipes for dog treats with low fat.

Raw carrots are a wonderful treat for dogs. They are healthy (lots of vitamins) and filling.
