in the past few weeks my dad has walked in on me twice while I was naked for no reason really. I would just forget it and be more careful with my door. But I'm sure he thinks i'm masturbating or something, which I am NOT, but I would really lose his respect if he thinks this. I think I should tell him I was not masturbating, but I don't know how it would fly that I was just naked for no real reason. its pointless if he responds like "keep your clothes on and stop thinking about sex." I want more of a "oh, good girl, let's never speak of this again" response. any thoughts.

Are you walking around in the nude just because you can? I am a parent, and I would probably suspect the idea of masturbating as well. While your room may be in the basement you should still acknowledge this fact; your parent (s) have access to entire parts of the house, and that you do not live alone. It's just the basement it doesn't make it any more private or solitary. If you have a door use it. If you feel the need to not wear any clothes it's your choice just be on the alert that your Father still has access to the basement, and out of respect you should always be dressed. Even if you explained he may not believe you because he has already formed an opinion about the situation. At this point just make sure it doesn't ever happen again.

First of all, masturbation is not a sin and quite frankly I'd bet the farm that dear old Dad has taken matters into his own hands a time or two. My dear old Dad said there are two kinds of liars in the world...those that say they don't masturbate and those that say they are trying to quit! Unless this episode is changing the relationship between you and your father I'd just let it go. Chalk it up to "water under the bridge" and move on. Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all. Speaking as a father myself if I'd seen my daughter naked in her own room I'd apologize and shut the door as quickly as possible. Of all the rooms in the house I'd expect to find a naked person, the bedroom and bathroom are logical places...don't you think?

wow this is a really strange place to be in...
Um...
Er....
I think if I was in that situation, I would come up with a good reason to be naked, like changing, or moisturizing and tell him "I'm really sorry that I forgot to shut my door while changing, and I will be much more careful from now on."
It's a good way to start that subject off, and if you are lucky he will think "yeah she was changing" and leave it at that.
But honestly, I'm sure your dad doesn't want to think about you masterbating, and chances are is trying to come up with reasons why you would be naked and forget about it too, so it might be better for both of you to just leave it alone and let it pass.

I don't think you should mention it, it will just makes things very uncomfortable. Its normal to want to run around naked in your room. Just be cautious about the door and maybe do it when everyone is in bed or something.

Just sit down with him and tell him that when your alone that you like to be naked and feel free. That you feel as long as your by yourself it is ok. Then let him know that you'll be more careful of keeping your door closed.

If you really need for him to know that you're not masturbating...then tell him. I doubt he's thinking that's what you're up to.

I'd just say keep your clothes on and don't get caught like that again.
