my 10 year old blue fronted amazon had a really good molt this year, but now has two tail feathers that have a ragged look to them.. he has never had anything like this before..

does anybody know what this could be??

has he been playing a lot more than usual? ragged feathers can sometimes come from roughplay, being in a small cage, being in a cage with a dome top, or of course it could mean some physical problems. if you think it could be some kind of problem internally, i would make an appointment with your avain vet.

we take our amazon out with us sometimes and he travels in a travel carrier cage. he usually gets some ragged tail feathers after being in that cage.
