I got some of my wallpaper paste off the wall by spraying the wall with half water and half downy fabric softner. Then wait a few min. and scrape it with a wide putty knife.

Hope this helps Ive used this method many times on old houses. Good Luck !

Remove Old Adhesive: Use a heavy-duty detergent, such as trisodium phosphate and a sponge to remove the excess adhesive from the walls. Some areas may restrict trisodium phosphate, so you can use its nonphosphate equivalent. Your hardware store can help you find the right one. Rinse the walls using a clean sponge. Do not wallpaper or paint over the walls until they are completely dry.

Caution: When working with trisodium phosphate or any heavy-duty detergents, wear rubber gloves to protect your skin.

There is a mixture that you can make to remove paste from wallpaper.
clean 5-gallon plastic bucket
22 oz. bottle wallpaper remover
1/4 cup liquid fabric softener
1 cup white vinegar
2 Tbs. baking soda
three-headed perforation tool
3 gallon pump sprayer

maybe those ingrediants may help. Or go to a store like Home Depot and ask for assistance.

DIF wallpaper remover. It's safe and easy. Spray it on with a garden pump sprayer,or wipe it on with a sponge.Le it soak in and dissolve the paste. Work in small sections at a time. Wipe it off with a squeegee, wide plastic scraper, or sponge. Rinse with clean water when your done. DO NOT sand if you have drywall.
