I have been going out with my girlfirend for over a year now, and in the beginning of the relationship we used to kiss and make out all the time. Now, a year into it, I find myself rarely ever making out with her, and kissing less too, is this normal? (and yes we have sex, if that makes a difference)

Yes, its normal. Usually at this point you just slip into a comfort zone. I would suggest getting books on spicing things up, take a trip if you can try sex in new places and so. Just do not allow yourself to stick to the same old routine.Try perfecting your techniques if you haven't already tried done this.

It is also a great point to work on strengthening your friendship.

Yes, you just have to make a night to do only that. It usually puts the spice right back in and makes you want to do it more. Kiss I mean
