Why should I take your religion serious and reject the rest like you guys tell me to? All the other religions tell me to accept theirs and reject the others, so why should I listen to you instead of them? You both claim to have holy and sacred text that is the word of your god(s), yet none of you are offering me any hardcore, scientific evidence and proof of the existence of your god(s).
Yes, you can say I should become Christian because "god loves me" but all the other religions say that, they just replace the word "god" with another name for their deity. You could say that I'll be rewarded with eternal life and happiness in a paradise, but the others can say that too. You can say that if I don't workship your god, I'll be tortured for all eternity after I die, and all the other religions can say that too.
So tell me, why should I consider your god and heaven as anything more than wishful thinking and reject the other infinite number of possible gods?

pickapart,
That's not what I was saying at all. I asked for scientific evidence, you know, the kind I could take to scientists have them say, "yes, this proves that the christian god is real and etc....."
Simply quoting the bible doesn't prove anything at all. If you think it does, then you must also believe the text of every other religiont to be true as well, after all, they just have to quote a book too.

What? Only parts of the bible have been proven historically, and not one miracle in the bible has been scientifically proven. You know not what you speak of.
There is no answer to this, because believing any modern day religion requires you to take a leap from reality to fantasy. It is that fantasy that lures people in, the belief that there is something more to life especially after death. Nobody wants to believe death is the end, so they take the easy way out to. This is why people need religion. But people use religion for other reasons too, to control. Not only is there an "afterlife" but you have to do what we say to get the good afterlife. If you don't you get the bad afterlife. It's absurd, but people in general are stupid so they fall for it.
No religion, even the most peacefull of them lacks some form of control factor. "Do as I say to be part of the group" If you truly want to follow Christ or Buddha, the worst thing you could do is become a Christian or Buddhist. Neither religion is even close to what their founders intended.

Very good question. I like you objectivity.
How do you prove something that you can't see? Okay, let's try some semi-logical thought.
There are two misinformations that you'll have to take into account.
Hell: There is no hell for sinners. Hell is a place that lucifer lives and his angels. nothing more. It just means " a place without God. so, get that out of your head.
God: If we're talking about the same comparison, the Figure head of the faith is the same. It's the path to salvation that's being offered. When they say ' reject all others ' they mean you have to dedicate you self to that path. not ' all others are false' the only person that can make that statement is God, only he would know.
It's like walking home. There are four roads that go to your house. you find the one that closest to you and stay on it. if you keep going from one road to the next, you won't make as much progress, or might not make it at all.
Okay, clarification done...now on to proof.
I have nothing that I can put in your hand to say " God exists ". I can't give you a DNA sample. I can't pick up the dirt at your feet and prove that this was God's work as opposed to any other deity. All I have to offer is historical records that have been accepted as fact in many countries as to the envents inspired my God's intervention. So a sort of ' witness selecton ' if you will. Ofcourse, these testimonies are also found in the bible, and since " bible verse' has been band from this conversation, I'm not sure how credible they are.
So, prove that my God is real and any other God if fake? no. It's not about real gods, it's about the right path. best wishes.

1. Christianity is more interesting:
Over the centuries, the more colorful factions of history - the Medicis, the Stuarts, etc. - and their murderous antics have provided a bounty of source material for the arts and fiction in general.
2. Christianity is more stylish: (OK, exclude the Amish.)
Just compare the princely robes of Benedict with the silly get-up the Ayatollahs wear. Need I say more?
3. Christian cuisine is superior: (OK, exclude Indian & Chinese)
The very idea of not having pork-chops is enough to reject the other 2 Abrahamic traditions. And no bacon? Puleeze! I'd be an apostate hands down!
OK, that's enough for now and I hope you're convinced.

My advice? Don't take my religion seriously. Honestly, religion is confusing. Rules and boundaries and church-going is all a little heavy for new people to get to know God. I know, because I've been there.
I think you may be looking for some answers. If you are, you're in luck. Jesus specifically told people to "be discerning". You're skeptical, so that's good. Don't write God off from your life because you're fed up with some self-righteous Christians.
Let's start with some history. You can do this on your own:
Get this book. It's an easy read, written by a legal investigator who goes after some of the biggest experts in the business. He asks the tough questions.
"The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel
http://www.amazon.com/Case-Christ-Journalists-Personal-Investigation/dp/0310209307/sr=8-1/qid=1159723106/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-5138636-9664861?ie=UTF8&s=books
You'll find direct answers to your questions there. Trust me. It's an eye-opener.
After that, I would highly encourage you to get some discussion going (one on one) with a Christian you know and respect.
Drop me a line anytime you like.

People tend to believe one or both of two things:
1. What they were raised to believe (i.e. - what they've always been told).
2. What they WANT to believe.
I've seen many, many questions asked on this subject, and most are not seeking truth so much as looking for reasons to keep believing what they already believe.
As for evidence, it is there....I've seen it myself, but I was looking for it. Those who truly seek the "truth of God" will find it, but those who ony try to justify their beliefs will not.
One clue would be to just look at God's creation (I have no answer for atheists, by the way....only those who at least believe a God exists who created all things). Anyway, everything in his creation is orderly and rational. It does not make sense that he would have hundreds or thousands of religions, and offshoots of those, who all teach different things and disagree with each other, as the way to him. A God who could do all these things is not a God of confusion, but a God of perfect order and reason. There is, by the way, a reason that he is letting things go on as they are now for a little longer, but sooner or later he will end things as they are now. He will prevail and those who teach untruths about him will not.
One thing I am very clear on is that, in the final end, only truth will last. Those teaching things that are not true will fall.
I cannot be more specific since you don't want quotes from "holy books." Since I don't want to go against this "rule" that you set up, I can offer no more than generalized comments. One last thought is religions teach different things (some sub-denominations of the same religion included). That is why they are DIFFERENT religions, and with different names. They cannot ALL be true. Sooner or later, something will give. God's truth is true anywhere on earth. It doesn't change from place to place.

What you believe is totally up to you. I am a Christian and I am not going to beg you to believe me over anybody else. The religion or values you choose to follow should come from your heart. When you find what's right for you, you'll feel it and no one will be able to change your mind because it will be that deep and that real. I wish you the best on your journey and hope you find what is best for you.

With all respect, I wouldn't even begin to try to convince you to believe in God. You want hardcore, scientific evidence without quoting a Biblical text. Since part of being a Christian is having faith, then it's absolutely impossible to convince someone of Christ's existence without having faith in something you cannot see......
I wish you well.

It's entirely up to you. Free will.
If God wanted to, God could make everyone a Christian, but God doesn't.
Jesus only wanted the "Word" to be spread. It's up to you and everyone else to hear it and understand it. Our job is finished once we tell it. It's not even required for us to witness, God and the Angeles can do that just as well.
It's all up to you. Believe what you want to. Take responsibility for your actions. Eve put the blame on the snake. Adam put the blame on Eve. God didn't buy any of that, which is why they got put out in the cold.
That's the bottom line, you are responsible for you.
The most severe mistake you can ever make in your life, is trying to blame someone else for what actions you take.

I can only say that when you have seen a Ghost you have witnessed God.
The Ghost came to me in a Fog and I can never ever forget that day.
It was beautiful and still I sin today...the fact is no matter what we see it doesn't make us change into something we are not, but it is a sign from God that there are places I remember, places I have been and places to go too from the work of God and I am his child of work and still I sin. It takes more will power than one can believe to be pure at heart when you are born in sin.

I downloaded King Arthur Gold for free here: http://j.mp/1qXItWt
it's a perfectly working link!
King Arthur’s Gold is a game set in the time of legends. There are castles that need to be built, and he meets that need to be destroyed, and of course gold that must be mined.
