I have microsoft office with Word 2003. I previously saved a text document on a CD-RW for my class. Now I want to modify the document and save it back on the cd, and it tells me I can't because it's a read-only file. How the heck do I make sure that what ever files I save on a CD-RW, can be modified? I plan on bringing this cd to class and making a few changes there.

Well, I reformated the CD and then went on to save the Word file on it. It let me open up the document, edit and save again. I will look into flash drives but for now the cd-rw works perfectly thanks the humble!!!!

I have two burners, a Samsung and a Dell. Both require that a CD/RW be formatted before copying data files with the expectation of using the CD/RW as a floppy.

Samsung provided a small program called "EasyWrite Reader" which would have to be on the receiving PC in order to read it.

Dell uses DLA and it, too, has a program which has to be on the receiving PC.

You will find life much easier if you invest in a flashdrive. I take work back and forth all the time. No problem at all.

The price has really come down on flashdrives.

Use Nero IN CD to format the disk you can then just drag and drop or copy and paste to the dvd or delete files as you do with a floppy disk you can also back up the disk to a write only once disk when full then delete all the files a reuse again

Make sure that you dont close the session on the cd. So what ever cd burning software your using such as nero of roxio, they have the option to leave the session open. Just type in your inquiry in the "help" area at the top of the opened program and it should have a walk through on what you need to do, i beleive you can type "session" or "copy" and you should get the answer you need.

dear Friend
if you have that document on your pc make changes on it and then save it on cd again with same name.
but if you haven't got the document on your pc just save the document on your pc from the cd then make change and then save it with the same name.
let me know about the result.
