At practice jump, we do figure eights----send over jump and turn dog towards you as you back up a bit and send them over the jump again, but turn them the other way around the jump. Can keep this pattern going a bit. At home, we play weave games---she likes to race me through them or beat the thrown frisbee or ball. At arenas with stairs, we practice contacts, using the steps. We have an arena that has low landscape rock ledge we use as a dogwalk. Several locations have a bench, which we practice table on. We practice "stays" everywhere, so to be ready for start line. (She waited til Elite/Excellent to start blowing). "Sits" and "downs" everywhere, for table. We practice "turns" or "switches", while walking; more like pacing.

I always stretch out my dogs before a show or performance event. Pull out the front legs and then the back legs, massage along the sides of the spine and the muscles in the front and rear.

Take your dog for some jogs or at least fast walking, I usually do 2 days on, 1 day off. The distance depends on the breed you have.

You should be able to build up to a couple miles a time, at least. Make sure to stretch her out before beginning any strenuous activity to help avoid injuries. You could also try taking her out with a bike, go at a nice slow trot, just be careful you don't get pulled over. Don't let her pull YOU though, you want nice long lean muscle, not bulgy muscle from pulling.

Before an agility competion I take my Australian Cattle Dog for jogs and when I'm at the competion waiting for my turn to run I have her do some tricks or obdience so she is excited when we get in the ring.

I would suggest joining an "all breed" dog club, (they host the dog shows) There is an All breed club in about any city.
Most clubs will hold handling classes and this is the best way for both you and your dog to learn.
Even tho' our family has been showing dogs for about 3/4ths of a century, we still take our young dogs to these classes every year.
