If you don't have time to go to a salon to get them trimmed, at least have a friend you trust help you out. You cannot see the back or your hair and a mirror does not give you great results. Walk a friend through giving you the trim or just find time to see a stylist. Any professional stylist can tell you that even we need to have someone else do our hair. We do not have eyes on the back of our heads and neither do you.

- make sure you are using hair cutting shears that are sharp (you can get these at Wal-mart or Sallys), using regular or dull scissors will cause uneven cuts and split ends

- have someone help you with the back, as far as making sure it's even - the back is the hardest

make sure your hair is wet when you cut it.
