I am having trouble installing the left pedal. I took pedals from a Schwinn mountain bike for a Schwinn Tourer. I got the right pedal on fine but the left will not screw on. It is labeled (L), I've got it on the left crank but it won't catch. I can force it to catch but will ruin the threads. Is it my mistake or a possible problem with the crank threads?

All left pedals are left handed threads you need to screw the pedal in like you would screw the pedal out. If that doesnt work then you might have to see if the cranks havent been stripped. Since they may have been you can have it tapped to fit the pedal.

The pedal could very well be left-handed threads. Try turning it in the opposite direction (as if you were unscrewing it)....that might work.

Either that or the pedals you have are both right-handed threads and the crank on your bike has left-handed threads on the left side.

dont forget the the left cranks are reverse threaded. the pedals will thread in counter clockwise.

They're reverse threaded, so probably that's why you cant thread the other pedal. For the left pedal, you tighten the peddal counter clock wise, and soften it clockwise.. It might be that.
