A lot of people seem to come here for different reasons.

1) actually discuss matters of religion & culture
2) just have a good time even if it's not serious
3) have your own preconceived notions reinforced
4) preach to other people about how your religion is the only true one
5) troll for attention
6) game for points

I personally am here for 1 & 2, and tend to respect most those people.

Those who are here for 3 & 4 annoy me, but yeah, they have a right to be here.

I wish those here for 5 & 6 would just go away.

That being said, why are you here?
What brings you to this site?
What kinds of people annoy you most?
.... and does that have to do with their beliefs, or the way they conduct themselves?

I am here because where I live in Texas finding people who are athiests is difficult, voicing your opinion impossible. I like the freedom to say outloud even if it is onscreen. I am an athiest. Woo-Hoo!
I also like to exercise my humor and enjoy making people laugh even if it is only myself. I don't care about points since I found out at level 7 you don't get a pony.
Crappy level 7 liars.
I don't think I am going to change anyones mind but I have made some great friends.
And you are here.
Those are all reason enough for me!
:)

I look for questions that are thought provoking.
I also enjoy reading some to the rants...usually when the question is like the 3 and 4 on your list the answers call the asker on their bias. and on how they are doing the opposit of what they claim to believe and teach. I do more reading than posting.
I try not to be too annoyed with people whos Qs I think are mindless...just roll my eyes and move on. I do enjoy the answers the dull questions get and I vote thumbs up even tho it does not count before the voting starts and It doesn't count if you are not the best answer but I rate some of the other answers none the less just coz I feel like it.

I visit several categorys and I find that clicking the avi of an interesting answer and going to their page will get me a list of questions better than the general ones so I tend to surf all over
without regard to the categorys....if you think the religeon is funky try the politics section...lots of insult questions there.

Observation:

If you're here for 1 & 2, you're agenda is basically a serious one, and why not enjoy yourself while your here, great. But if you seriously want to discuss matters of religion & culture, and don't just want to have your own opinions reinforced then you can't really avoid the preachers, can you?

Of course the "Why are we here" question is as deep and meaningful as they come. But for me I come to Yahoo Answers as a Christian seeking to share the love and faith of Jesus with others. I have also learnt a great deal about the nature of peoples objections to Jesus which helps me in turn to answer their questions and perhaps more surprisingly I have learnt something of the work and the revelation of the Holy Spirit through my answers.

People that annoy me? There are many questions here that are nothing short of abusive, but they don't annoy me, they just concern me, I wonder what it would take to get the message through to them. Sometimes it's a disguise, a cry for help if you will; sometimes the abuse is just pure evil, often though it seems useless to even engage such a person in any kind of dialogue.

Actually, I don't think Yahoo Answers is a very effective forum for getting the message across, but occasionally you know that someone has been blessed by what you've said and that makes up for all the negativism here.

I can also think of at least two occasions when my answer / question has been somewhat less of blessing to others and for this I regret.

I pray you're getting something out of your visits here.

1, 2 and sometimes 3.

I love to watch and study people, what and how they think and try to understand their motives in life. I take an almost devilish delight in watching others make fools of themselves with their profound ignorance, prejudice, fat egos, hypocrisy and generally juvenile conduct. Certainly not all are like this; there are many here who are much wiser and enlightened than myself and I hope to learn from them. My favorite preconceived notion to have reinforced is that there are, in fact, bigger fools in the world than myself. I'm not sure if I should take comfort in the fact that there are so many idiots around or be scared to death by it.

Also, this site, which gives a person just enough anonymity and aloofness from others to say what they feel without too much repercussion, is good practice for real life with those with whom I have some serious differences of opinion that need discussion! I've never been real good at that kind of matter - I'm not a good debater - frankly, I usually get trounced, so I hope you all won't mind if I occasionally use you all and this site for 'batting practice'.

I hate trolls, despite the fact that my last paragraph seems to suggest that I enjoy harassing others. I have left other sites because of unbearable jackasses who think it's cool being total ******* to everyone.

I stumbled across Yahoo Q and A a week or two ago and as you know it's addictive. I just gravitated towards questions that I'm interested in. I think that Religion and Spirituality, by their nature, always skirt the ultimate question...why are we here, why anything at all, that kind of thing. I'll answer math, potential suicide, break up, "why is the sky blue?" questions too...to help them.
The 'what shoud I wear..', ' how can i get my g/f back' and such are annoying....but easy to ignore.
I get a bit annoyed at people who just assume that I must hold the 'other point of view that they 'imply' in a question, or do not answer the question asked 'cos you don't have the opportunity to come back and say..that's not what I was asking.
It's kinda annoying when, having asked a question like..."Given that your a 'whatever' ....", somebody answers with...'How dare you call me a 'whatever'. I just don't need to be left wondering if this answerer is ignorant, stupid or thinks that all questions are directed at him/her personally. But I just assume 'all of the above...and move on.

Mostly 1, sometimes 2. If I have preconceived notions, no one else can reinforce or make any difference to them, but I try to understand all of them, and they do have a right to be here. I try to ignore 5 and 6. Two kinds of people annoy me. One is the ones who do nothing but show hatred to the ones they disagree with, and the other is the ones who are deliberately offensive to those they disagree with, with their sole intention being to annoy them. How they conduct themselves is all that matters. What they believe is totally up to them. Good question.

#2. I enjoy being here for the fun, and I've learned to recognize the "joke" posts and to respond with such. No real harm done.

I'm also getting a fascinating glimpse into human nature, one which I had never expected. I have come to enjoy the people here immensely.

I don't think I do any preaching, and if so then I'm unaware of it.

I'm not the least bit bothered by the trolls. They can be a fun diversion. When they post something inflammatory they get really heated responses which tend to generate a real discussion. Seems everyone starts posting their own questions, and a back and forth ensues. People actually start talking.

The points mean nothing to me, so I'm not at all concerned with what others choose to do with them. Same for the ratings. They're meaningless.

I try not to take this forum seriously. Life's too short to be concerned with such things.

First off, I'm here to keep you from slamming your head against the desk ;-)

I'm also here to get people thinking, shake some cobwebs loose and open some doors, share broader horizons and generally to encourage people to think outside the box.

I've also encouraged people in general to think more of Love, to embrace each other more, recognize our differences are not nearly as considerable as our similarities.

Since I hardly ever answer questions, and even more rarely do I select answers for my questions, my points have been dwindling constantly. Sort of like a watch counting down the seconds till 'poof', I disappear at level 0 ;-)

And no one bothers me. The worst I do is thumb down an answer so I needn't waste my time with it. And I tend to save that for those who refuse to answer the question.

to annoy people of 3 & 4
who don't have the right to even exist let alone be here, they are scum and should be treated as such. As for gaming for points this is not the best section for that.
Fighting the evil of these 3 & 4 people is not trolling it is a service to society

I am here for reason 1 & 2.
The people that irritate me are 3 & 4.
5 & 6 I tend to ignore. In my opinion paying them any attention is like giving in to a child throwing a fit. I am annoyed by people that jump in on topics just to assert their opinion on matters not pertaining to the topic. Massive copy and paste answers especially the same one repeatedly are a bit annoying as well.
