I am wanting my husband to get help and he has to know he needs it, but he says he isnt the one who needs help.

He is always paranoid about everyone and everything around him. He is full of anxiety and can be vioent. He loses his temper daily if not a few times daily. He can not cope with real life anymore. He has even turned on the kids and switches back to nice again. I am wondering what it will take for him to see his behavior.

People have to intervene and help that person. The majority of people with serious mental illness do not know it. They think that they are fine. People with depression and anxiety can seek help for themselves. But more extreme cases require intervention. If a person changes dramatically over a period of time or starts to deteriorate mentally, psychologically, or physically, something is probably wrong. If they start to become introverted, don't like to be around people, begin to look disheveled, or are erratic, they need some help. Or if the person is not able to function on a daily basis and accomplish things in his or her life. I hope this helps.

Mental illness comes in all shapes and sizes. From obsessive illness to addictive illness. Some people learn from those around them, some never learn. Some people can be helped while others can not. Some are docile, some are violent. Most of the people that see on the streets have some form of mental illness. It is just a matter of how intense the illness is.

I have some problems myself and I know it. Just because I am not like most other people. Help can be found in the phone book. There are programs for those who can not afford it. You can look under the mental health heading in the book. Or under the yellow pages for Psychiatrist or Psychologist.

Many people do not want to admit they have problems because they do not want to be labeled.

I knew that when I wanted to hurt my small child, or beat up my husband that this wasn't the person I wanted to be. I would get livid and upset about the smallest, trivial things. I would want to throw things, but then the next second, I would be fine. My spouse never knew if I would be happy or angry. If I would love him or hate him. I felt as if I had two personalities. I knew I needed professional help. I went to a psychiatrist because I didn't want to be this way. That was 15 years ago. Turned out I was bipolar. I am stable on my meds now, I go every 3 months to my psychiatrist and attend therapy when I feel I need it. I still struggle with things, but my meds help me cope and be able to live a semi-normal life. I am happy and productive and am able to control myself and raise my family and feel as if I'm a healthy mom and wife. Please, if you or someone you know needs help, go now.

I feel that help is required when the problem effects your everyday life. Everyone can get obbsessive and paranoid at times, i feel this is normal. However i have known people to be so obsessive that it takes them hours to leave the house. So i think its important to ask yourself how it is effecting your everyday life and actitvies. I suffered a course of anxiety and panic attacks which is classed as mental disorder which is quite common. I realised it was interfering with my life so i seeked help. I was offered councelling and that alone was enough to help me through it.

If you notice something different or a constant feeling or perspective that you have, or if your family and friends begin noticing a change in you, then you may need to see a doctor. A regular MD doctor can send you to a specialist, psychologist, or psychiatrist, if necessary. It is in the person's best interest to see a doctor soon before anything develops.

well if you have ruled out the possabillity of recreational drugs as a cause then try getting him off sugar and caffine and carbs .at least test the idea before taking him to a doc. that will just give him med-prozac- because thats just what they will do .you might try the test i suggested and see if it evens him out .he doesent have to know your not feeding him sugar
