Use extra conditioner on your ends when you plan on using curlers or it could be you need to trim your ends.

Use a heat protective spray/creme/oil of some sort before applying heat to your hair. Also keep irons at a warm setting. (hair burns a 130 degrees) Depending on texture of hair, whether it is fine or coarse, or whether it has been lightened or tinted. Coarse or gray hair can tolerate more heat than fine or tinted hair.
After heating the irons to the desired temperature, test them on a piece of tissue paper. Clamp the heated iron over the tissue and hold for 5 seconds. If the paper scorches or turns brown, the irons are too hot! Let them cool somewhat before using. Overly hot irons can burn, scorch or damage hair. Remember that fine, lightened, or badly damage hair withstands less heat that normal hair.

Also get your ends trimmed regularly. This is very important as the longer you wait the hair will split up the hair shaft and cause damage and shedding.

Getting a deep conditioner can also help to keep ends conditioned and healthy. Keep in mind the roots of your hair are the healthiest being close to the scalp and all, and receiving all natural oils that your scalp provides. The ends are the furthest away and gets less care and nourishment.

Hope this helps!

Your not using end wraps before rolling up your hair. So now you must clip those damage ends. Keep your hair oiled.
